>he fell for the STEM meme
He fell for the STEM meme
lmao pathetic
chicfila pays 18$ an hour now
STEM: if a person in China or India (total population of 2 billion people) can code a computer or manage a database remotely, don't expect to get paid more than $20 an hour
>He fell for the contractor meme
is computer science a stem degree?
asking for a nigger
Not every business can shell out the 100$/hr wage you think you deserve. That being said, anyone worth a shit doesn't really need to take a job like that. Sounds good for someone who has had only minimal experience.
Lmao
this unironically, and if you get salary, it will be 45k a year for 90 hours a week of work. If you fell for the meme programmer or CS degree, thinking you were gonna make 70k, 80k, 100k, because you googled "programmer pay" on google, just fucking end yourself and get it over with.
Yes
>tfw 27 with a CS degree making 92k/year
It's possible if you're not a lazy, antisocial autist.
After your first job it’s easy to pull 60k or more per year
>must have 15 years experience with c# and visual basic
>must do all the work stacy and tynisha can't do
I make $60k/yr starting as a CS major (first job). This meme is misleading. The high paying jobs are out there, you just have to become confident in interviews and know your "theory" well + actively pursue internships. Sitting on your fat ass playing videogames wont get you a career even if you can code a game from the ground up. I've seen you losers in my CS class before. Reason you dont have jobs is because you dont apply yourselves.
You got lucky. Pic in the OP is your future
I make 70k a year with an English degree paid for by the GI Bill writing bullshit for corporations. AMA.
>work for free so that you can get a job someday
>and don't forget that handshake
neck yourself boomer
There's no such thing as luck. I got three internships; two at Fortune 200 companies. I barely knew shit about web development and I learned on the job. It's all about how you present yourself. Showing up to career fairs in pajamas and being afraid of the sun will not get you a career. Plain and simple. You get what you put in.
Everyone is doing STEM degrees now which means they’re worthless, especially when companies can hire pajeets for cheap.
That's an internship tier wage.
Companies still need employees to manage the pajeets and fix there garbage work. Companies know the shitskins in India can't code for shit
>tfw late millennial
>tfw not afraid to show confidence which recruiters want.
Guess what, reason these companies hire pajeets and asian contractors is because only beta white men go into CS. All the reliable and high paid developers are all white.
I only want to work 40hrs/week max as a software coder. Still good for $100K ?
lol
enjoy your shitware and broken slow db
jesus if you only had worked with pajets before..... it turns out to be an extremely expensive affair...
become a consultant
They use them to deflate wages, they also stack the entry level so college kids don't get any experience. Then they bitch when there are no senior programmers when the pajeets need to return home because their visas expired.
kinda borderline if you ask me but yes it is. Think they skip most math, all physics and chemistry. Here at least. They have like some easy math and that's all. Comparing to ce here
>tfw have been doing "intership" for 3 months now
>have done actual work from the start
>haven't got a single cent from any of this
I have literally made over 10k profit for the company that accepted my intership
>got a "deadline" project that I need to finish today
>don't even give a fuck anymore
just fuck everything
I work 35 hours a week developing software. Consulting work definitely pays higher but your hours and work are unreliable. I am not allowed overtime, but get great benefits, which you usually do not get as a consultant.
.NET sucks, any idiot cna code in .NET.
Companies are hiring entry level and dumping senior level work onto them. They don't care so long as it gets done within a timeframe. Unless you are writing code for an airplane it doesn't matter.
This is your future CSfags. Thinly veiled communism where your labor is worth as much as a fast food employee. Feels good doesnt it?
This is the future for all employment in America
you'd rather game in your pyjamas wouldn't you.
The high paying jobs in CS are when you become important and have lots of responsibilities. It also depends where you live, a 100k/year wage (before taxes) where rent is 3000$/month is almost a slave wage. but where rent is 400$/month it's a very good wage.
That's why your goal should be to become the boss.
>doing unpaid internships
I don't play video games anymore
Implying I had any choice
>implying cs is STEM
Large level of projection there. You make it seem like doing senior level work at a lower level is a bad thing. What happened to proving yourself? You lazy fucks don't get it, and you think you're owed everything. Put your best foot forward and you'll get what you deserve. Be a lazy cunt and do bare minimum work and you will go nowhere.
>become beginner code monkey
>complain all of STEM is a meme
Like clockwork
I started working in automotive this summer making $14 flat rate, I typically make 50 hours killing myself. I would do anything to make $16/hour in a nice comfy air conditioned job
Nothing wrong with an unpaid internship. If it ended up getting you a job at the company post graduation than what is the problem? If itdoesn't, well at least you have some experience on your resume now. That company could have found someone else to do it but have you the chance. Don't be ungrateful.
Something on your resume looks better than nothing.
well I work in Chicagoland. $100k/yr is possible if you work the system right (ie senior dev or consultant). Experience = pay like you said. $60k/yr is a lot for most of these autists which is what I meant by "high paying". It's like $3700/mo after taxes.
it's a very big diff on what people get paid here. You can't expect a 100+k salary at entry level. The smart thing is to actually trade jobs rather fast and don't stick around that much for those first jobs.
Management will fast see that you are actually skilled, which do matter A LOT. But those first jobs, just don't stick around because if you works for scraps like this they will try to exploit it as fuck if you are gullable. I was a bit too long on my first job had to basically fight for a good salary and got real pissed off because of that given what I actually did there. The smart thing would have been to just jump a bit the first years. Remember that you are a senior after j ust a few years. Never marry any company unless you got shitloads of stocks there
they are going to offer me a month later a minimum wage job there (300 euros per month)
I'm not going to stay in that shithole, hell I'll carry out my internship like a samurai and then leave
This mentality is why pajeets rules the sector, why mentor Americans when you can hire a pajeet for half the price and get roughly the same quality of output. This is how America plays itself, not investing into your people makes your people weak.
Fucking capitalism without natioalism is just jewish globalism.
I'm 26 yo .net developer. 40k per year, strictly 40 hours a week. Have not been called in on the weekend once and have been working here for 3 years. I don't have to interact with any customers, only business analysts and project managers. Its a great job and I'm happy to have it desu. I don't deal with any drama, the only downside is that sometimes when a project is almost done, they change the requirements. Otherwise I'm content.
t. Boomer
Coding is a lot like playing an instrument. Everyone can play guitar and like guitar there is a massive fucking skill discrepancy between an average coder and good coder.
If you are better than the average poo and not a total sperg you can do very well quickly.
Get a CS degree and be social with some leadership skills and you will ushering into a management position very quickly.
If you cannot out compete smelly autistic Indians and shut in perma virgin Asians I feel bad for you son.
Electrical engineer. I'm doing a job I could've done after the equivalent of high school I've attended, get paid only slightly better and the company I work for is so shit they haven't paid me for almost 3 months now. I was looking for work the entire time(while continuing to work since I assume I'll get that money, after year or two but I will so the more I stay here the more I will eventually get) and can't find anything, because I'm too dumb to get a driver's license and all the jobs require it. Fucking end it.
lmfao what a joke, nobody with any actual skill would apply, they are just fishing
Your major set back is you are too lazy to get a drivers? Holy shit what is wrong with you?
I live in Chicago and it is a great market for CS jobs.
It happens. Smaller companies will obviously pay less but you need to negotiate and not be afraid. Especially if you're not even considering the job. You have nothing to lose to ask for more.
Or more likely they make these offers so they can say they didn’t find any Americans to do the job and hire H1Bs. Companies that do this should have their management gassed
That's how it was for me. Looking back, useless degree. Or maybe I'm just unlucky or too socially retarded to market myself. But if you'd trust me on this one, I'd say: get a different fucking degree, waste of your time and money.
I'm 27 and not a lazy, entitled piece of shit millenial.
You have plenty of companies out there who do not outsource to India. You just have to be worth it and, with the mindset I have seen in this thread, nobody in here is worth it because you all think you're owed 80k/year because you went to college and didn't do any internships.
>people good with computers are social
hahahahahahaha good one. You're on Jow Forums and you're saying this unironically.
daily reminder that if you didn't go into finance, investment, business or real estate that you LITERALLY fell for jewish tricks
>Electrical engineer. I'm doing a job I could've done after the equivalent of high school
actually back the very latest of the 90ies I was pulled out of highschool to work. It was different times then, learned all the maths and shit we needed by our selves then.
Anyways took my degree later though and went back working. This job was far easier than the one I had then. It was a lot different in the sector then. The ones working really burned for the subject and just about everyone had skills. Later came the "I'm just doing my job"-people, that just went to school and didn't really give a shit. They just did their job. Then came the pajet invasion and almost everything turned to shit.
If you go work at a random place today, I can bet my ass that you now have to do the job of 10 other people on top of your own. It's quite tiresome
All three of those are literally judaism
CS is becoming more mainstream (for better and worse). Some Chad's and Stacy's are picking it up thinking it will land them a nice paying job. But you will always have your forever alone autists who only do it because they already spend 20 hours a day on WoW/Fagnite
Friend of mine fell for programming job meme
Gets paid only 50k/yr
Works 90 hour weeks
Cleans up after all his last managers making 100k/yr+
But he is lazy and won't job hunt
You make your bed, faggots
Yeah because we know all those physicists and chemistry majors make it rain. fucking moron.
Where do you find clients?
engineering with some specialization is ofc far better than just regular programming. But it's so big difference. You have shit jobs and you have good jobs
Ok so why dont you take one of these $15hr progeamming jobs then? What are you, some sort of entitled faggot? Why not do it for $2? Ill pay you a nickle to spit shine my cock. Dont be lazy
their trick is to keep all those jobs for themselves by flooding universities and the internet with STEM propaganda
>computer science
>STEM
>15-16 an hour
How? That is below minimum wage.
>unpaid internships are legal in his country
Not lazy. I'm too autistic to drive. I can focus well on one specific thing but if I have to manage several things at once at all. I've tried hard, couldn't sleep because of it and eventually gave up the courses. It doesn't help that in Poland driver's license exams are set up to fail as many people as possible to squeeze all the shekels from repeated testing as possible, constantly adding new useless shit just to screw you. When I tried to get the license 5 years ago if was much easier and new drivers were having less accidents, but now it's a fucking catastrophe.
Mine was technical high school(I know Germans have something like this too, dunno about you) I was electrician by trade the moment I've passed trade exam.
What are you, some sort of commie? You should work for free you entitled faggot
How about I work for $0, hire me then? That's free motherfucker but I don't see anyone offering my any jobs.
I work full time for a company but have friends who get hired at consulting firms, and they find your clients for you (head hunters).
Because I already make far more than that and hold myself to a higher standard that I'd be able to land a better job. When I left college I had 3 offers from 3 different companies, salaried: 35k/year, 45k/year, 58k/year. This was 5 years ago, mind you.
The 58k/year was from a company I interned at, impressed, did a tremendous job and proved myself doing work above an intern level, and so they wanted me back. 5 years later I'm still at the company and make almost 100k/year.
It's Melbourne, Florida. The minimum wage there is like $8
after three years you should earn a lot more than that user, that is really low. You need to negotiate more and not be afraid of that or they are just going to exploit you forever.
i want your job. how do?
CS is the meme degree of stem
Sorry user. I don't know how things work in Aussieland. But companies in America throw in a $10k salary bonus for Aussie bants so maybe you should relocate.
Being confident is more important than actual skill if you want to rise in a leadership position. Going for the specialist career path would be more talent centered. A lack of confidence would still hurt your future as a specialist though
we have technical here too my father did that and you also go the stuff for electricians ofc. typically they just take the additional math afterwards and become engineers. I just when to the regular school but I did all the coding on the spare time and we won these competitions we have here so that's how I ended up working, but it wasn't hard back then. Today it is very different they all demand you have an engineering or cs degree now
i make 110k/yr faggot
Except the forever alone guys are the nerds you should be hiring. Of course you're blinded by Chad and Stacey's charisma and then shocked when they can barely code anything.
I make 114,000 a year, working from home, with no degree. I am able to shitpost on Jow Forums all day. This is not bullshit, this is my actual life. AMA!
I probably should, Americans love a deep dicking by foreign labor while your fellow American can suck a dick at home.
Work hard at a labor job. Eat right and get extremely buff. If you show an ounce of intelligence you'll be chosen by higher-ups especially if there's any women in charge to oversee a crew and given 80k a year within 1 to 3 years. No school needed.
If you are looking for a back end coder you can throw in a dark room then yes, you should hire the nerd.
If you need someone to interact with customers and be able to hold a conversation, then you hire the Chad and Stacy. Assuming they actually went to school, you'd expect them to be able to do the bare minimum work and hopefully improve. If it doesn't work out they get fired and they get the next Chad or Stacy until they can do the job.
What do you do?
Is a Chemistry major useful to build a career off of? Not CS but it does require a combo of Bio/Phys/and a shut ton of chemistry
If you're white, you're right!
Business Analyst with one of the larger US banks.
Internships in Finland are kind of sweet deal for everyone involved since government pays the employers nearly all of the wages that go towards the internships + travel expanses. Interns get the valuable experience they need to apply for jobs in their respective fields + 80% of normal employees wages, employer gets nearly free labor and government gets lower unemployment figures.
Ok well you need to learn how to suck my dick better so I'll give you a nickel and we can go from there.
Every man has a different preference.
They are legal in finland too faggot
Also have to consider $150,000 annually for a CS career sounds great unless you live in Silicon Valley where you can still be working poor and making that much.
$50,000 in Pennsylvania > $150,000 in San Francisco
The cost of living is just too high in many major cities and you can live a much better life with less pos and around white people in the fly over states
Yeah I've noticed that for most of the jobs you need to be social or else they just drop you at the interview. I've seen women who barely could code easily get jobs at big companies.
If I wasn't a couple times better than the typical people that study computer shit I would be on welfare right now.
Is learning code even worth it? I was considering going into full-stack.
Technically yes, but you can get a degree in compsi from the liberal arts school after like 2 years, these are the ones getting h1b'd out of a job
Compsi foesnt have all the math, and it hardly has any of the critical thinking. Honestly unless you are coding some really complicated piece of software or programming embedded systems (such as MCU's, but thats more computer engineering) you are just doing nigger work any monkey could do
>Being confident is more important than actual skill if you want to rise in a leadership position.
it's true it's almost all about that. At my previous job they wanted me to become a boss, I didn't want to because I like to work and it would hinder me in my coding too much. Today I'm both though but I try to skip as many meeting as I can. It's kinda new our office was first completed this month. It's no stress that's kinda nice after some time we're going to get more employees and it's going to be more to manage. I hope to just sit on the technical side here but more and more meetings are going to show up
Only in regards of students and those in rehabilitative labor.
Stacy get's a job because shes a woman in a computer field. Being a woman already puts you above the field. Being a black woman guarantees you the job at any EOE company.
Nothing worse than finding out you lost a job to a black woman.
NO! Steer clear. You will need a phd and there are no jobs. If you like Chem do chem engg only! I have a friend who is a research chemist and makes $38,000 with a phd
>Expects a company will pay for your training (which will require other productive workers to stop working to train you) while you provide pretty much 0 productivity to the company and will then leave them for a better company once you have gathered enough experience.
