Jow Forums I need your help. I've been coming here way too much and I've noticed it has deteriorated my mental hygiene. My blood pressure is raised, I'm more anxious, I pursue my hobbies less, I get irritated more, you name it. I think this is common for people not merely on Jow Forums but who pay attention to politics and current events in general, whether conservative politic or tumblr/twitter politic, just a state of constant provocation and anxiety. I think a lot of our political climate is due to the daily habit of succumbing to provocative agitation in the media.
What do I do to reclaim my mental hygiene? What steps can I take? I want to limit Jow Forums to twice a week, but see, I don't know what to replace it with. For the time being it needs to be something online, or at least on my computer. Do you know of any productive, positive, comfy, even relaxing places left online, or is EVERYTHING agitating and provocative?
What constitutes good mental hygiene? How can you expect a good answer if you don't even know that?
Leo Perry
I'm also looking for a /comfy/ place online
Gabriel Long
Well, for starters, not being in a state of constant agitation, outrage, provocation, or self-doubt. In terms of online places, something that enables one to be productive, positive, possibly comfy, maybe relaxed, and not purposely agitated.
>state of constant agitation, outrage, provocation, or self-doubt. You have to look at the cause of all of those things. The actual truthful reality of why they arise. Why are you in those states? Protip, Jow Forums is probably not the reason for any of them.
Jayden Carter
even without pol, i find it impossible to have "mental hygiene" with the societies we live in today. once you start seeing through the bullshit that is around you everywhere you feel constant alienation. the only way to a completely clear mind is to completely check out from modern society. go become a monk or go innawoods like varg or something. read lots of books. keep yourself occupied with productive endeavours. the best way to fight this rotten system is to simply not participate in it. once they start coming for us when we do that; this is when the bloodshed begins.
Hudson Bell
It's not Jow Forums in itself, but the overuse of Jow Forums, as I understand it. It's not so easy to break a habit of excessive internet usage, so I'd like to baby-step my way out of a mental haze by lurking and participating in better and more productive/positive websites.
And somehow, I actually can't seem to find any. I mean, there are great SUBS on reddit for niche fields of interest, which are great, but the site as a whole is horribly overpolitical and degenerate. Yet the subs are more like RSS feeds of information, as opposed to a Jow Forums which is a conversation / dialectic.
surely there must be a site that I can use to supplant excessively checking Jow Forums.,,
The only solution is taking a leaf out of Varg’s book. The stress you’re experiencing is the natural fear response to encroaching danger. Hence the only rational solution to ensure your survival is to take all necessary precautions to ease your mind. This includes stocking up on supplies and moving to a remote location away from metropolitan areas and finding a community of like-minded, freedom minded individuals who you can depend upon when SHTF. I’m moving away from this dystopian shithole in a month’s time to rural Utah. Gonna buy a sprinter van and hold out till WW3 is over or I get picked off by the NWO. This plane is crashing with very few survivors. We’re way too far gone to salvage this wreck of a civilisation.
Why are you overusing Jow Forums? You still aren't asking the right questions

There is no reclaiming one's mental hygiene. You can't vomit up all the red pills you've swallowed, they are forever a part of you now.
In this time when there are infinite viewers and infinite sources of content to consume, attention is the new currency. And shows of any kind, whether a news report or a podcast or a TV series, gain reputation by agitating you, provoking you, getting some intense feeling to arise in you. Everything is slowly being optimized to capture maximum human attention, the trend isn't going to get better anytime soon. The only option is to learn to take control of your attention span / capacity for focus
Well fist off, being able to handle redpills and redirecting your anger / frustration in a productive way is a good place to start. After that, start making a plan for the future. Having a plan for, even a mediocre one, is less stressful then just freeballing it all the time.
After that, start saving your money and making a budget. That will reduce the amount of stress and anxiety you have to deal with later on. If you can take steps to be more financially independent, (growing some or most of your food, having multiple choices for income, owning your own shit, ect), that will help you relieve some of the worries of modern life. Self sufficiency and having some food and water stashed away at all times will probably help you as well. Look up some self improvement general threads and self sufficency threads for more info on this
Jow Forums and social media in general raises cortisol and so does jerking off, not to mention they both release dopamine so your brain is rewarding you for the stress. Very healthy cycle.

I go binge-pol'ing maybe twice every week, more jew stupid would kill me. The rest, I spend on planning to exterminate every jew on the planet and grow a man's beard. That and sleeping a lot. Sleeping helps.
>i'm mentally ill guise pls halp lol >look @ my post from last month haha >why am I so emotionally unstable :S it definitely has nothing to do with spending to much time on Jow Forums >I guess I'm gonna go cry in the corner and cut the first two layers of my skin guise. hope you feel bad when i'm gone goodbuh cruel world
Sometimes I even sleep while typing, but that's another matter. Take a walk, clean your room, fuck some bitches, punch some sandniggers. Just don't overdo it with the kikery.

and the biggest pill of all: They claim a lot of shit. It's just that. (((Shit))).
I try really hard to be a nihilist but the internet triggers me and I come here. I need to get my life together and stay off the internet.
Jaxon Perez
Maybe you're just a pussy. I love political humor and current events.
John Bell
I know that feel. I recommend leaving for work at 7AM and getting home at 7PM. There's no time to fret when you're doing something productive.
David Murphy
>I don't know what to replace it with. For the time being it needs to be something online Read more books. Make memes. Get out of the house and walk for an hour everyday. Get Jow Forums and become a Jow Forumsnessman.
meditate user start with 5m sits for a couple of weeks and work your way up to 1hr you will find a calmness you did not know was within you
Jaxon Johnson
I don't know. Maybe habit by now. I am legitimately interested in politics and laugh harder on Jow Forums than IRL, yet I don't think it's positive for me all things considered. Don't have a lot going on in my life atm.
Robert Gutierrez
The reason is because you choose to. Sounds to me like you can't come to terms with your own freedom.
Gabriel Foster
Find a good blog and read long blog posts, or read books. Jow Forums and many other places make you read mostly 1-2 lines at a time and makes you constantly look for the next 1-2 lines of text that make you smile or laugh or think or whatever, it gives you tiny bits of pleasure every once in a while. That destroys your brain and makes you unable to focus.
Joshua Edwards
>go and occupy yourself with busywork How is this any different than escapism?

>I've noticed it has deteriorated my mental hygiene.
Hi shill. you can leave now.
Parker Parker
Being outdoors and getting fit helps with blood pressure and lowers anxiety levels.
Hudson Carter
Swimming in the toilet gets shit on you. Also, the game.
It MAYBE can alleviate anxiety, but it's not going to do jack shit to get rid of the cause of it
Landon Campbell
based and checked
Michael Morgan
Yes, maybe depending on the cause. Anxiety can cause high bp and high bp can cause anxiety. It can also be caused by other things that are happening in your body. Taking care of yourself physically can do a lot for your mental health.
Jonathan Taylor
OP stated it plainly. >It's not Jow Forums in itself, but the overuse of Jow Forums, as I understand it. It's not so easy to break a habit of excessive internet usage, so I'd like to baby-step my way out of a mental haze by lurking and participating in better and more productive/positive websites.
He's suffering from self imposed anxiety, which is caused by his useless guilt about not being productive enough. What good is chasing a productive career in this society if your productivity is going to result in more garbage?
Mason Robinson
stop being a bitch and swallow your fucking redpills faggot. you can live in delusion and happy ignorance or you can have the balls to see the world for what it is. there is no rational in between, its one or the other. ignorance or discernment, choose now and stop bitching about your irrelevent feels.
microdose LSD obviously. its the solution to everything brain related. it's like brain floss.

Get off the internet, meet up and hang out with people you care about and who care about you (whether that's friends or family) and just enjoy their company. Laugh and have fun, you don't need to get drunk or use any drugs. Watch a game, play a sport, go for a walk, go to a restaurant.
Having social connections is the number one thing that fixes what you're feeling. I know this because I've went through it myself.
You're going to get people telling you to take this or that supplement, to go to the gym more often, and those are good things, but you absolutely must having social connections. You will feel like shit without them, social isolation is in my view one of the biggest health issues you can have.
If you don't have friends, ask a parent, ask a sibling, ask an aunt or an uncle or a grandparent. They'll probably enjoy it too, most people in our current society are way too lonely.
listen to the advice below. Jow Forums fucks you up without you realizing. the good news is that it can be reversed, it's just a matter of creating new neural pathways and filling your subconscious mind with relaxing things. absolutely cut off stress from your life, mentally and physically. be well user, g'night
It's pretty troubling how you are one of the rare people who notices this effect and tries to change but there are tens of thousands of people who visit this board every day never mind the hundreds of millions of people into politics in general who spend all day reading extremely negative comments yet can't work out why they feel like shit.
This tbqh, people fall into politics drama because they are using the internet as a substitute for real socializing. If you have healthy relationships in real life you have someone else to bounce reality off of and not get worked up about strangers ideologies rattling around in your own head alone.
Humans are wired to be concerned about your family and friends and local community, when you replace that with being concerned about what millions of people online are saying it fucks with your brain and makes you feel like you're in an emergency situation constantly because everyone you "know" is constantly outraged.
Jose Perez
>even relaxing places left online Get off the computer. Period.
Luke Powell
I can confirm my blood pressure is high all day as I contemplate the death of Western Civilization. We are in a crisis mode though so it's kind of warranted. The real shame is people who stay here shitposting (me) instead of following the self improvement advice properly.
Zachary Brown
allan watts. eckarte tolle. could put you to sleep though. comfy hypno

>The real shame is people who stay here shitposting (me) instead of following the self improvement advice properly >implying you even know what true self improvement is

Indeed this reminds me of the Natural Law presentation I watched, the two spiritual currencies are all that truly matter, to what we pay attention and how we spend our time.
Ian Butler
Remember though, it's YOUR currency. You can spend it however you want.
