Self service checkouts need a flesh-worker to sort out ID and age restrictions, and also to diffuse the machine's autistic meltdown when something touches the scales in the bagging area.

Nope. I watched as they put teh self serve cashier checkouts in the grocery store near me. It didn't save any jobs, because the customers are too fucking stupid to follow orders, will fuck up anything in the process, and they have at least two cashiers now standing there monitoring them. They also break down all the fucking time.
I've used the self check out, it's handy for one or two items, but most of the people I see using them are doing 4 or 5 bags of shit, and usually need help figuring something out.
I've been going to my local store for years, I know everyone who works there, they're all cool people, and I like going there because I can bullshit with them instead of having a brain dead scanning machine beeping at me, because some retard spilled water or something all over the glass. A couple of them will also spot stuff with coupons out that week, and will pull one out of the drawer for me.

If theres no human cashiers, and I'm forced to scan items myself, I always give myself a discount of complimentary items

Most don't allow alcohol or cigarette sales at self checkouts. Coupons do require a worker to approve them.

The selfcheckout in my store has security cameras on them, stupid. Lose one cashier, now you have to hire a security dude to watch the monitor, and security dudes near the door to stop shoplifters.

My store upgraded the self-checkout, they have a feeder like an ATM for coupons now. But yeah no alcohol or cigs in self-serve.

The one close to my house closes at 12am, due to losses... So if I have to go, I take the long way back. Luckily I have a gf that mainly works weekends and she does the big shopping during the day.

At Walmart I've only seen cameras at the front of the store, in electronics, and at registers. If I'm not seeing any other cameras, no one else is as I've never seen proof of hidden cameras.

Security guard. The worst job I ever had to do. Have to deal with shitskins everyday while being unarmed and not having the right to do anything against them.
Have to stand up on guard for 10 hours straight in shitty places like supermarkets, only to ask customers who've selled some shit to pay for it or give it back, while the cashiers steal 10x more stuff but you gotta close your eyes.
Fuck that job, seriously, armed droids should do it instead.

Hey man not all security is bad. I currently work graveyard security at an Amazon Depot and it's not a 24-hour one and nothing happens all night so it's nothing but netflix and ship posting all night from my phone.

It's a 72 acre building and I make it a goal to lap it once an hour. Helps burn some calories. I plan on starting College this fall on I'm just going to do all my homework here.

I have driven a truck before so I can fully assure you of this: truck drivers will never be fully automated. Unless the world is populated by robots, there will always be a need for truck drivers/babysitters. When the truck can drive itself, the driver will be more of a safety feature than anything.
