I think it’s laziness and lack of crativity in today’s society. Art takes practice and it takes work.

Speaking from experience being in the modern art world , Modern art isnt focused on art aspect of the equation, its about shock value the importance of being seen and making money,

Because nowadays "ART" is just another term for "being different". In that sense, "art" tries to outstand, to get attention, to revolt and shock. The times, when art meant beauty, skill and devotion are long gone. Now everyone can claim to be an artist by literally shitting on canvas.

As someone with a classical training I can attest to this. I was lucky to study under some great people including a few more well known names such as steve huston. All of these old schoolers demanded strong fundamentals in the craft. I currently help run a local life class twice a week in my area and do some teaching. Every person who comes apart from one is middle aged or bordering on getting a pension. Not a single young person stays when I advice they just draw the figure in boxform for a few months. All they want to do is either learn to draw by convention and get trapped in a style with no skills to move out of it aka Calarts. Or those that just want to draw manga faces. I don't care if people that come draw badly, I just want people with drive to improve the craft. I've come to the conclusion that art is degenerate when skill and craft gets replaced by excuses.

I don't hate art because of the creator, I hate art because of it's content, which is usually vapid consumerism, or hedonism, or some other disgusting and destructive idea shown. Go into an art gallery and look at the paintings, most of them are pretencious shit that a 5 yo could make and then there are a few decent pieces. Art used to e not only creativeity, but also ability. Now I can make some circles overlapping in different colors on a canvas and if my name is recognizable it can be tossed up on a wall so everyone can look at mediocrity and how it's venerated in this shithole of a society.

Exactly. There are some great modern works, but they drown in the vast amount of degenerate works, which is published just to shock and is often even encouraged by colleges/universities. I myself have seen a lot of different works from graduated artists and to me it seems, they dont have own ideas, but rather steal and - this is the main problem - want to shock. It's both, society, media and institution like colleges that promote "art" instead of art.

Most new artists that put in the work, that can do and have new ideas tend to get swallowed up by things like the concept industry working for games or movies. The moden art world of finance banks with their $10million baseball in a fish-tank turn their noses up to all of that as not serious.

First they remove the skill required for art, then the aesthetic quality, then they divide art into "functional" (aka can I make a profit) and "elite" (aka I dont get it, but since everyone is praising it, it has to be good). The focus on the "elite" art is then divided into hyper-sexualization (muh vuh-gina art) and the disgusting (to throw the concept of aesthetics even more out the window).
