The country looks big but there are only tiny areas that have any rainfall and useful soil. Even the good soils require chemical fertilisers because our soils are deficient in so many nutrients. This is a dry barren land. If you ever go out into bush land you can see how dry it is yourself. Most of the plants in the few areas with rainfall are barely hanging on to life.
If you'll open google maps, go look at how much bushland we have cleared. There are tiny pockets left. I guess we could bulldoze that.
