Benny jumped in when Hitler curbstomped France because he wanted some of the spoils. He was too cowardly to jump in before Hitler did the heavy lifting and too stupid to stay out of the war like Franco. And because of his stupidity he guaranteed the downfall of his country and Europe.

Without the resources and time lost in Africa and Greece Germany would've been able to beat the Soviets. Without the resources lost against Italy in WWI the Central Powers would've won and the Soviets would either be too weak to ever threaten Europe or Germany would make sure the Whites won the civil war.
