Nope. Guatemala was part of this. Ormat has two geothermal plants running in Guatemala. First one started in 1999 and then in 2002 Fuego volcano begun erupting and has been in a state of eruption since, similar to PGV starting in 1981 and Kilauea starting to erupt in 1983. Both PGV and the plants in Guatemala have seen extensive growth in production by digging many new wells over the last couple years, coinciding with these current eruptions. This is not an isolated event. We are being warned.
In Pacific Rim 2, the Kaiju monster is trying to jump into mt fuji to set off all the volcanoes and destroy the world because the monster blood mixing with the lava makes it explosive.
I stayed in Kapoho once. One of the nicest cozy little neighborhoods in the world will soon be no more.

Seems like kilauea was just the testing ground for the ability to set off volcanos. With its effusive history it wouldn't set off an obvious read alert or major catastrophe straight away linking it to PGV. Now they've diverted enough lava away from the crater that it's collapsing in on itself entirely. My guess is they obviously knew the solar minimum was coming, and that these plants would passively send these volcanos over the point of no return.
