A laptop is necessary in the modern world, and if you want to be a productive worker, you need a good piece of tech that won't let you down. $3k is too much though, most people with Macbooks paid around $1.5k for them. Also, laptops are bought for years to come, so it's also an investment.

I'm not a neet, and I have a good job. You know how I got it? I made applications each fucking day and made it my full time job searching for one. And you know what got me where I am now? No, not the shitty jobs that everyone can get where you are getting paid 1.5 minimal wages for something that would be over $100k in a well functioning economy. My friends. I got my friends thanks to my friends. And I am incredibly lucky to get it. Capitalism was a mistake.

Yeah, I have respect for all jobs, but if you want to constantly improve yourself as a professional, even if you are a car mechanic, the best way to get information is online. And to be productive at learning you need a decent machine. That would be $700-1500 to get one that will really last you and perform well.
