Just gonna drop a quick rundown on why McCabe seeking immunity from congress is different than typical "nothing ever happens" immunity.
McCabe was fired for lying to the FBI regarding his leak about the Hillary email case to the Wall Street Journal. He never once claimed he didn't leak, he owned that right away, but he claims Comey not only authorized, but he ordered the leak. So as his subordinate, McCabe did his job. Put aside all justified bias against McCabe and consider his story here, it makes sense. Of course Comey *could* have authorized and ordered it. So why didn't the IG believe McCabe, why did the IG accuse him of lying? Because Comey testified that he never ordered the leak and Horowitz believed him.
So back around to McCabe asking for immunity. In the more likely scenario where it was Comey who was actually calling the shots and not McCabe going rogue, it's actually Comey who is guilty of these crimes. And the only person who could testify to it would be Andrew McCabe.
