1: Be the example, and your wife as well. By that I mean they will learn how to be a wife, friend and person by everything you do. That means how you act around the house, in public and to strangers.
2: Be firm, seriously, children crave foundation and boundaries. They want to know there are safeguards, the safer they feel, the more they will feel comfortable doing, such as riding a bike.
3: Move to the best possible place you can, even if it means downsizing your house, cars and salary. Their environment will have as much if not more effect on them.
4: Don't wait, their core belief systems will be developed in middle school, if you wait to get a grasp on them they will be unable to reform.
5: Never, ever yell at them. I say this for many reasons, but your anger should be saved for your enemies. We spanked our kids until they didn't need it anymore (around the age of 7) by then they knew where the lines were and had became very respectable children.
