Sputnik has reached a source in the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who said that the United States is continuing to supply armed units under the framework of their operation in Deir ez-Zor province.

An SDF source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Sputnik that the United States is boosting its military presence in Deir ez-Zor.

"There are three US military bases in the region, where the Americans are strengthening their presence. Over the last four days, the United States has sent us 250 trucks with Hummer armored vehicles, heavy weapons, and pick-ups, as part of the operation against Daesh*, which we continue to wage in eastern Deir ez-Zor. The US ammunition and armored vehicles are delivered overland from the territory of northern Iraq through the Semelka border control post, and from there to the east of Deir ez-Zor."

US-led coalition denies report on Syria strike deaths

Syrian state television said on Monday an airstrike by a US-led coalition had killed 18 Iraqi refugees at a school in eastern Syria, but the coalition denied it.

The state television report said the strike took place in a village in Hasaka province between the Euphrates river and the Iraqi border, an area where a US-led coalition is supporting local fighters against ISIS.

A spokesman for the coalition, Col. Sean Ryan, said the report was false, adding “we are not tracking any coalition strikes today in Hasaka injuring or killing civilians”. A war monitor, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said the US-backed fighters had captured the village in fighting, but did not know if civilians had been killed by a strike there.

Last week the rights group Amnesty International issued a report saying there was evidence the US-led coalition broke international humanitarian law with some of its strikes in Raqqa last year by endangering the lives of civilians.

Turkish exports to Syria revived under shadow of war

The seven-year war in Syria has dealt a heavy economic blow to Turkish border provinces, but, as wars often do, it has created its own economy and traders. Since 2013, when rebel groups seized control of border crossings on the Syrian side, Turkish exports have perked up, benefiting also from Turkey's military intervention in northern Syria.

After the eruption of the war, bilateral trade hit its lowest point in 2012, when Turkey's exports plunged to $501 million and its imports from Syria went down to $67 million. In 2010, when the ties still flourished, Turkey's exports had stood at some $1.85 billion, while its imports were worth $663 million.

Last year, Turkish exports to Syria reached nearly $1.4 billion, while imports from Syria, which are subject to official permission, amounted to only $71 million. The export average of the past three years — $1.3 billion — points to a notable revival in Turkish sales to Syria, though without a corresponding increase in imports, whose average remains at no more than $70 million.

The main products flowing to Syria are cooking oil, flour and flour products, cement, iron and steel, hygiene and cleaning products, poultry and automobiles. Despite the modest level of trade, Turkey remains Syria's main supplier, and, together with China, accounts for more than a half of Syria's imports. Turkey is also the fourth-biggest buyer of Syrian products, importing mostly cotton, fruits and vegetables, olive oil and cooper and aluminum products.

Over the past few days, the Syrian army has begun a three-axes military op eration to liberating Al-Suwayda from the terror group of the Islamic state (ISIS).

According to media outlets, the Syrian army, in cooperation with the allied forces, launched a wide-scale military campaign to clear the desert in the far north of the Suweida countryside, which overlaps with the south-eastern Damascus countryside of the remnants of the Da’ash organization.

Sources told Muraselon that the military operation in Daraa will begin soon, after the failure of the Russian-Jordanian-American mediation efforts, and the insistence of Daraa rebel faction to reject the reconciliation with government.

During the last few days, the Army took control of Rahba al-Musheirfa, Al-Musheirfa and Wadi Arar near Khirbat al-Amabashi in the far north of the Al-Swuaida’a countryside, following fierce clashes, the Syrian military reported.

The three axes military operation:

– The first axis: from ”Tall Asfar” towards the ”Khirbat Ambachi”, where the forces advanced and reached the area of Suh Majidi after controlling the school of Almshirifa and Rahba Almshirifa.

– The second axis: from the “Qasr-Sakia” towards ”Khirbet Al-Ambachi” too, where the forces advanced 7 km after violent clashes with Daash.

– The third axis: from ”Al-Zuluf dam” towards the Tulul Al-Safa (Al-Safa hilltops) as the forces moved 10 kilometers north.

US ship that struck Damascus heads back to Syrian waters

BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:15 P.M.) – The US Navy’s airborne strike group, led by the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier U.S.S. Harry S. Truman, entered the eastern Mediterranean region last Sunday to again take part in the operation against the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists in both Syria and Iraq, the official website of the Navy said.

“To support air strikes, an aircraft strike group led by Harry S. Truman returned to fight ISIS. This sends a powerful signal to our partners that we are committed to maintaining peace and security in the region and everywhere that there is a threat of terrorism,” Rear Admiral Eugene Black stated in a message on the website.

Previously, the American media, Defense News in particular, reported that the aircraft carrier and other ships accompanying it could stay in the Mediterranean for a long time to counter the “challenges” from Russia and the PRC, but the Pentagon did not confirm such information.

The Trump administration is planning to release a suspected ISIS fighter in Syria with more than $4,000 in cash and a new cellphone, a Pentagon official said in a court filing released on Thursday.

The U.S. military has been holding the unidentified man, who is a Saudi-U.S. dual citizen, as a prisoner for about nine months.

“Upon his release, the Petitioner will be given $4,210 in cash, the same amount he had in his possession when was captured,” the Pentagon official, Mark Mitchell, said in a declaration filed in U.S. District Court in Washington. “He will also be provided a new cellular phone (in its original sealed packaging), which he can activate and use if he desires to do so. He will be provided sufficient food and water to last for several days.”
