Net Neutrality is that your ISP (internet service provider) shall give you the content you want without treating people differently because of what they watch etc etc. With net Neutrality gone, ISPs can for example create subscription fees (for example if you want to look at this page, you need to pay 5$ a month or outright block sites they do not want you to see.

Net Nuetrality was for one thing, to shut down any voice of discent on the internet. It classifield ISP's as Titile 2 under the telicomunication act of 1996. Which would require them to apply for a broadcasters liscence, subject to massive regulatory oversite. Oversite that was not done by FCC, but run out of the state depart. This department was created and passed with legislation days before Obama left office. It gave them power to decide and classify any content by state or non-state actors found on the internet as propoganda against the US official narative. The state department then had the authority to issue letters to the ISP's to block this content or entire websites from internet access. If the ISP did not comply, they would be in violation of their broadcasting liscence, which would be revolked. Where they then would go out of buisness.

Because we don't care. We saw what Net Neutrality got us: a bunch of lefty mega-corps who pay the same as the little guys for internet use suddenly became the arbiters of what constitutes acceptable thought.

There is gonna be a lot of uninformed people in this thread talking about how ISPs will slow down speeds etc. Thankfully these people dont make the decisions regarding these things.
The repeal of NN is a good thing - NN basically meant that ISP were categorized like the telephone companies were. By removing this legislation laws can be made that work better for the medium.
The whole fast and slow data thing is easy to explain as well. Currently ISPs infrastructure is over capacity - at peak times it isnt unusual for ISPs to buy access to other networks to fill the gaps. The idea with the new laws is to build a new infrastructure, that way there is 2 infrastructures - one for low bandwidth and one for high bandwidth (i.e. one for loading web pages and one for streaming movies) this optimization will result in faster speeds for both.
With the new laws we will see major growth in the sector with new innovation and lower overheads.
tl;dr its better for consumers

The name put on legislation/regulation often signals that it does the opposite of what it actually does. The people who are for it says it will prevent censorship on the internet... despite it being supported by the most censorship happy sites on the net, including Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Historically, there was a fear that some ISPs would sell premium speeds to websites to have faster connections to their clients, though that never manifested, and it scared a number of people.

But in practice, it's a ton of regulation on an industry that worked fine without it. (Libertarianism might not work everywhere, but it works fairly well on the net, and net neutrality is against that, obviously.)
