Gaza was given up strategically, so Israel could have a constant thorn in its side. Any retard could see that giving up Gaza was going to lead to Hamas. Gaza has basically no impact on Israeli everyday life, but having terrorists on your doorstep is immensely useful as a political tool - you’ve now got a damn good reason not to give up the West Bank for one thing.
