A fatwa is a pronouncement by an Islamic jurist concerning applying sharia law to a specific situation.
There is no central authority, so jurists are usually evaluated for their time in studying at a madrasa. A source needs to come, because to my view, Robinson has not declared war against Islam, and hence there is no reason to call for any reprisal according to sharia law.

Not a professional one, no. I was attracted to Islam and read some of the Quran and some Hadith. I am extrapolating on what I know in asserting that there is no legal basis in sharia for ordering Tommy’s death. This point is important if we are talking about a fatwa, so Brits should not defame legitimate and just scholarship.
Khomeini issued his fatwa against Salman Rushdie since he was an apostate. If Tommy had defamed Muhammad if he was a Saudi citizen, for example, he could be condemned to death as he lives under a Muslim treaty, even as a Christian. Britain is different, as it is a land of treaty (different from abodes of Islam and war) according to several of the schools.
Even if requirements for death were met, it would take a proper judge to evaluate the situation, along with certifiable witnesses.
