Intellectualism is the fetishization of rationalism. The leftist believes they can shape the world into how he believes it out to be rather than conceding to how the world actually is and building a philosophy around that. The leftist thinks he can use pure reason to understand the world, which allows smart people to construct these intellectual models that simplifies the world into his own mental construct.

Alternatively the right wing philosopher observes the world as it is and then constructs a philosophy that enables order and civility that fits within the constraints imposed upon us by reality. Part of that means they understand pure reason cannot adequately addresses reality in it's entirety so over time it is understood that traditionalism and religion serves as a support and foundation that allows us to act in the face of the existence of a perpetual boundary between the known and unkown.

No, amoral Neocons made a cynical political pact with Evangelicals, Christian Zionists, and other politically motivated but generally uneducated "religious" demographics.
