However, there is a gap of time in between the two time periods in which the population explodes. This is because families still hold on to old habits and normalities i.e. having many many children, whilst new vaccinations and advances in medicine allow them to survive past infanthood, therefore the population grows like never before. Once Africa becomes modernized , the birth rate will dramatically go down, however there will still be too many of them in the foreseeable future to not have an impact on the west.
