It's a reactionary response to the current trends of Western society. When you destroy the nuclear family and disincentivize the risk of marriage it should come as no surprise that a growing number of men decide the risk/reward balance just isn't worth it, even with the tax advantages for getting married or having kids, and in spite of their own desire to find a wife.

If you actually give men and women equal rights when it comes to marriage and divorce, and if you throw out no-fault divorce laws so people take their vows far more seriously than some mild step-up from a high school fling, you'll probably find the MGTOW movement will largely vanish. I'm not one of them, but it's really not difficult at all to figure them out.
