Here's some news for you. Slavery was purely economic. What do I mean by purely economic? Black africans we're so low skill workers that for them to hold a job, their only skill they could sell was their body.

We only ever study things in terms of Race, sure we could be obtuse and define people by ethnicities, but that's only useful when doing more in depth studies.
For example, if you're trying to to determine which population has the highest predisposition to Diabetes, you'll start with Race. A very broad, general conception.
Once you've determined the race with the highest frequency, then you can go about determining the Ethnicity.

If you throw out the concept of the Biological Race, then you dismantle the ways in which we study phenomena.

As for what is correlative between race and behavior, because we don't do causality in social Studies generally. We know that African Americans(blacks) have higher free flowing testosterone, have a higher frequency of (SNPs)Alleles positively correlated with Violent Behavior, and have a lower than average IQ.
Lower average IQ is correlated with impulsive behavior, which is a trait most criminals have.
