Here's information of everyone involved in the case. It's a pain in the ass to explain, so I'll try to order them appropriately.

US District Attorney to Northern District of California: Robert S. Mueller.

US Attorney to Sonoma County: J Michael Mullins

US Deputy Attorney to Sonoma County: Gary Medvigy

US District Court Judge: Maxine Chesney

Municipal Court Judge: Frank Passalacqua

The true allegations are that Asimov was initially charged in March 1998, on counts of Child Exploitation and Possession of Child Pornography. He was arraigned in Sonoma County Municipal Court by Judge Frank Passalacqua, who previously said that the investigation was just in it's 'infancy'.

Judge Frank Passalacqua then released Asimov, because authorities were convinced that 'no local children were involved'. He was released on his own recognizance, being that he stay away from children and has internet access revoked (indefinitely, I'm not sure). In return, the two distribution charges would be dropped.

Medvigy stated that the reason for the conditional release was that there was basically because the amount of content, as well as the fact that much of the content came from international sources, hinting that it was more appropriate for federal investigators to take over.

And so they did.

Asimov was indicted in November 1999 before a federal Grand Jury, but the distribution charges, as well as exploitation charges, from his Sonoma County hearing were absent. He was charged only with possession. The Grand Jury transcripts are NOT public. We know only what they've spoken to the press about.

In December 1999, he pled not guilty to the aforementioned charges, and was released on his own recognizance.

Maxine Chesney was the presiding judge in this Grand Jury. She hired a psychiatrist to evaluate Asimov, as did Asimov's attorney.

Maxine Chesney was appointed by Diane Feinstein.

Comey claimed the President privately told him, “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.” The former FBI head testified he took that as a directive from the President.

According to former Georgia Congressman Bob Barr, now special counsel Mueller said nearly the same thing to him during the 1995 Congressional investigation into the 1993 stand-off in Waco, Texas that resulted in the deaths of 76 members of the Branch Davidian cult.

It went unnoticed at the time, as Mueller was out of government service when the book was written.

So Mueller, who was the US Assistant AG for the Criminal Division from 1990 to 1993 (during the Waco Siege) instructed Bob Barr during the subsequent investigation to "go easy on these guys" referring to the FBI agents guilty of, at the least, gross negligence that resulted in the unnecessary loss of 76 lives.

I still don't see a path of action, especially considering this is based on one man's testimony. Is there any more information on Mueller's involvement in the Siege?
