"Hispanic" is to Spanish-speaking South Americans (all the way north to Mexico) as "white" is to all Europeans. It's an overly broad way of categorizing them, but it is also a valid distinction to make. Being mad that Honduran Hispanics are different than Colombian Hispanics is like being mad that the British and the French are both white.
