That is literally socialism though. He was funded by the government to build things ''for the greater good,'' and not for profits. Whether or not anything he has ever made is for the greater good is debatable, but there is nothing wrong with the principle.
When the government takes taxpayer money to pay for border control, are they making a profit on it? No, it just costs money, but the benefit is far greater than money.
