Why is it called the "star of David?"
Can anyone point to a Biblical or Talmudic passage that mentions King David in connection with this symbol?

Nobody knows? Come on guys where's that internet autism!
it's not the "star of david", it's the seal of solomon, it's used to control demons usually placed on a ring (wiki says it's mentioned in the bible, Josephus 8.2 supposedly)
it was also found in use by the Khazars (the turkic tribe in eastern europe that became jews) and a lot of the jews today (especially those from russia and poland) are actually descendants from, and actually have nothing to do with istael
This is a particularly fun internet rabbit hole, OP. There’s some seedy stuff in the history of the symbol, video below goes over a lot of it
It has been found in archeological sites where Christians were hiding in the first century. They were using it before the Jews to identify each other. As for the meaning I have no idea.

That old fucking Jew at 5:30 gets me every time.
>There must be somewhere... I... uhh... do not remember exactly... what the association was...
It's a very old Jewish magicka sigal, used by Jewish wizards. Not a conspiracy, known fact. Look it up. The name "Star of David" was coined in a session of the Zionist Congress about 110 years ago. So it's an old Jewish symbol but its overall importance is recent, and the name is a recent invention.
also this is why when demons are summoned (in games, anime etc) this symbol is often used, not because it's "jewish" or "anti-jewish", it's either to control the demon / demonic powers or to show that the demon is so powerful that the seal has no effect over it
the pentagram is also related
>the guys who like to use a triangle as their symbol also use a 5 and 6 pointed symbol
go figure. also the eye (circle) has no points, unless you draw it like them, then it has 2, one on each side. they also relate squares to saturn symbolism. so yeah satanists seem to have a hard on for geometry
I'll post a few quotes from this site, but you can read everything in context here:
christianitybeliefs.org
>Israel adopted the six-pointed star in the wilderness due to their apostasy. The mark of Cain was worshiped by the Israelites in the wilderness as the star of Remphan, which represents the god Saturn, also called Chiun.
>After his marriage to Pharaoh’s daughter in 922 B.C., Solomon gave himself up to witchcraft and idolatry, and built altars to Moloch, Ashtoreth and Remphan, the ancient Egyptian ‘Star‘ god.
>The Six-Pointed Star is engraved on the Talisman of Saturn which is used in ritual magic.
>A bull’s head is enclosed in a six-pointed star, and surrounded by letters composing the name Rempha, the planetary genius of Saturn, according to the alphabet of the Magi.
>The bull represents Moloch worship and ultimately, Satan worship.
>Satanists, Occultist and Freemasons venerate King Solomon, who owned a magic ring that was engraved with the Seal of Solomon, which gave him power over the invisible monarchy of demons.
most sources who do not pertain to mumbu jumbo and fairytales attribute the jewish adoption of the star of david to around 1300 ad.
btw if you're wondering what saturn has to do with this, it's just meme beliefs like mars being the god of war. but physically, supposedly pic related is a spot that saturn has
>bull
>i am a mystic trust me
>what is taurus
Why aren't you telling the part where King Solomon banished the demons to a brass vessel to protect humankind? This is alegorical text anyway, are you honestly retarded enough to take it as historical fact?
The last 1200's and throughout the 1300's is an interesting period for Jews. They were expelled from England twice during this period and expelled and readmitted multiple times in France.
This is also the point in history where the Jewish population bottlenecked to 250-420 people. See: arstechnica.com
This would lead some credence to what suggests that it was used to identify other Jews.
The menorah was a more popular symbol for Judaism until recent history, pic related. Minorah still on the seal of Israel and a major symbol of Judaism. The Star of David has become more popular. One reason might be because it is easier to draw, and it's also on the flag of Israel.
That's really fucking interesting. To think just 800 years ago the Jews were almost exterminated and yet they rebounded in spades. I wonder who caused this bottleneck? A Hitler figure?
There is lots of ancient Jewish graffiti in the remote desert mountains of Saudi Arabia.
prominently featured in all this graffiti is the Candlestick.
it is the symbol of the 4 elements
the 5th element would be spirit but jews lack that so this is their symbol , they are the manipulators of matter , since it is the only thing they can comprehend
Honestly, with the way you guys are approaching this "issue" from a fear everything radical christian perspective, a lack of academic skills (including not knowing the difference between a proper or bogus source) and an inability to puncture the surface of the subject of pan-cultural spirituality, you wouldn't recognize the answer if it was given to you plainly, as it wouldn't satisfy the expected adrenaline rush of "See! We uncovered the devil's work!". Threads like these are inherently useless because everything OP is after is more unsourced bullshit that fits his tunnel reality. Crack open a fucking book for once, and i dont mean contemporary sensational writing on ILLUMINATI FREEMASON LOL
Another fucking doofus signing on, what is this claim even based on dude?
I dunno bout that but you goys gotta come over for some Teriyaki tonight
common sense
>seven clear components
>it's the four elements, huurrr buburrr
Fuck off retard. if you want to relate it to elements, the most common use of the Hexagram in that light is as a representation of the planets, with Saturn at it's center.
Are you going to ignore the fact that you posted something rooted in the Platonic model and that the Judaic system has only 3 elements? You're making yourself look like somebody who doesn't research anyone's claims but takes them at face value, i wonder why that is
Your knowledge of history and culture is limited to what you were spoonfed by videos with all-caps titles and websites like posted ,christianitybeliefs.org
There's about as much science in your occult science as there is in New Age braincancer
the question as i understand it, is to a large extent what do those who use these symbols mean by them / what do these symbols mean to them. unless you believe eyeball symbols are used everywhere only because they're trendy
or a better example would be how things that look like 666 are placed everywhere. sure it might just look fancy, sure there's a gematria meaning which points to an old name. but ultimately if those who brand your kids forehead with it have a different "logic" behind the symbol, it's normal to care about it
You'll find the answer if you study culture and mysticism from the world over, it's actually already mentioned in this thread. But i don't think that's an option to you as your radical christian propaganda claims anything that makes you think is of the devil
>gematria
the only people who put any stock in gematria beyond "heh cool" are completely detached from reality. This has been proven time and time again since the most arbitrary things can be related to eachother through gematria. In Kabbalah it's considered a "funny extra" to serve as a reminder of the unity of all things, there is nothing inherently significant about it. Numbers and letters, sure, gematria, no.
You're trying to make it seem like i reject the significance of symbolism or spirituality, which i don't, i'm just saying you are "learning" about it from toxic sources that are again detached from reality
Why was I named David? My family has been protestant for 100s of years :'(
Plus no Jewish DNA.
SAUCE?
Found this from Zohar
chabad.org
Nothing, the symbol Comes from alchemy, which is as everyone knows a the forefather of chemistry and makes use of a deep symbolical and philosophical teaching
It is the combination of an upward triangle (represented by fire and the philosophical traits of fire i.e. desire and love) the downward triangle (represented by water and the philosophical traits of water i.e. softness and repose)
Because of the way earth and wind are represented (same traingles but with a horizontal line down the middle) it could also be Read as a combination of those
In other cultures, the upward triangle represents male and the downward represents female
It is throughout history been used as a symbol of Harmony through unificafion of opposites and has only been recently adopted by the jewish religion
David never flew that star on his banners as representative symbol
>King Solomon banished the demons to a brass vessel to protect humankind?
Wait a minute... Where have I heard something similar to that before?... There is this one kind of fucked up brass statue which was said to hold a demon of incredible power who had to be sacrificed children as to be content, first born to be exact...
So basically King Solomon gave Moloch its ''current'' form, using semantics to make it look like he did something good when in fact he did the literal opposite by making the demon have a literal foothold into our reality in the shape of statues, well if we take into consideration they saw demons as existing beings. The king of demons is a liar who use semantics, for some reason I'm not surprised at all.
Amos 5:26
KJV
But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
Amos 5:25-27
Berean Study Bible
25Did you bring Me sacrifices and offerings forty years In the wilderness, O house of Israel? 26You have lifted up Sakkuth your king and Kaiwan your star god, the idols you made for yourselves. 27Therefore, I will send you into exile beyond Damascus,” says the LORD, whose name is the God of Hosts.…
Star of David is a lie.
As your other christian radical friends, your brain is tricking you into defaulting everything to "much new and even deeper demonic extremities" whenever you stumble upon something. Honestly any effort to explain anything is wasted at this point. By this kind of logic you come up with wonderful things like equating being alive with committing an act of evil since if you were dead evil satan couldn't get to you in the first place and other stupid shit. You're not looking for understanding, you've already made up your mind about what you want this stuff to mean, and thus you will forever live in fear and be unable to improve your own life and that of others with understanding of the micro and macrocosm. Good luck with life
It's a upgraded symbol of Masonic compass
How would they have gotten that picture of saturn from that angle?
Cassini
As above so below
In the Years of the Primal Course, in the dawn of terrestrial
birth,
Man mastered the mammoth and horse, and Man was the
Lord of the Earth.
He made him an hollow skin from the heart of an holy tree,
He compassed the earth therein, and Man was the Lord of
the Sea.
He controlled the vigour of steam, he harnessed the light-
ning for hire;
He drove the celestial team, and man was the Lord of the
Fire.
Deep-mouthed from their thrones deep-seated, the choirs
of the æeons declare
The last of the demons defeated, for Man is the Lord of
the Air.
Arise, O Man, in thy strength! the kingdom is thine to
inherit,
Till the high gods witness at length that Man is the Lord
of his spirit.
