Like and said, if something as significant as a PM getting kidnapped happened, it'd be well leaked and known to the media and population by the time infantry, particularly Marines for that matter, some of the lowest of the Chain-of-Command in the Military would know it happened. The boots on the ground are just barely steps above the common citizen in the "know-how" of things.
If the Government and Military want to keep things under wraps, you can bet damn well it'll stay hidden for decades to come barring major scandals like Abu Gharib
