On a related note: I read "Confessions of a Greenpeace Dropout" by Patrick Moore and remembered it when I read the article. He's a Biologist who advocates nuclear power and runs a salmon farm these days. He used to be with Greenpeace (he was a founding member). Obviously he no longer is. The book is not purely autobiographical, it's got a bit of a historical rundown of Greenpeace as well. One gem that stuck out was them focussing on Germany early on because they figured that ze Germans would easily be conned into donating for and supporting any cause you successfully sold to them as a noble one. I think the most promising scenario is simply cutting the gibs here in Germanistan. That will lead to a massive increase in chimpouts. you do realize the welfare system is unsustainable on itself, right?
