Entering a country illegally is breaking a law. Why anyone who cared for their kids would break a law of a foreign country is beyond me. I keep seeing conflicting information on this.
1. Are these people they are catching in the USA illegally but are then claiming asylum?
2. These are people that come to the port of entry and ask for asylum to the authorities present.

In the case of 1 that is just tough nuts. Breaking the law. But in the case of 2. there may need to be a better process. Unfortunately I cannot find a good source on what is actually going on.

Also in the case of 2 but they are gaming the system they fall into the fuckem category.

If they were refugees they legally have to request asylum in the first country entered, since they did not they are illegal immigrants trying to abuse the asylum system. Also, the vast majority of asylum seekers do not show up for their asylum hearing and have already disappeared.

You have to go through points of entry to be a refugee. Most of the kids the illegals have are child slaves.

2: Doing so at a port of entry will set in motion the asylum application process.

Doing 2 means that your kids will not be taken away during proceedings. Doing anything other than 2 gives the authority reason to suspect anything (trafficking of people/smuggling items, reasons to NOT use a port of entry) which is grounds to have your kids taken away in order to start proceedings (not for asylum since they've been caught)

If you give up yourself to an actual border point you do not get separated from your children.

Separation from children only happens during arrests, because police can only arrest the children for a certain period of time (20 days of something) before being forced to release them.
