I'm 30 years old, no wife, no kids. I work as a software engineer and make ~ $100k. I want to leave it all, join the Marines as infantry and fight. I have no idea why I want to do this. If anyone asked me why I wanted to join the marines the simple answer would be I want to kill America's enemies. It's not even patriotic I literally just want to be in the shit and don't put much value to my life
How about you talk to a professional since you clearly have self esteem and life management issues
Landon Ward
You'll get failure to adapt discharge within 2 weeks you pussy faggot bitch
Brody Howard
It's nothing like what you think it is. You will be surrounded by some great people but also a lot of meathead idiots who have the power to ruin your life and career because they don't like your face.
Owen Cruz
You're too old dude Maybe you can apply for some engineering job in the military, but you're too old for active forces. For instance, the German marine doesn't take you if you're 25 or older AFAIK As said, that doesn't barr you from serving your country, or shouldn't rather, but not in the field.
Evan Wilson
absolute wanker get a fucking hobby retard
Angel Wood
It's 34
Talking to a professional psychologist would bar me from entry into the military so that's not a good idea user. Besides, I harbor no mental instability, I have kept a stressful challenging job for years, pay my bills and have good relationships.
>pussy faggot bitch lol
I understand this. I live surrounded by marines. I live next to a base. I have almost come to admire that strange mixture of incompetency and strength, but you run across a few of them and see they are damn honorable men. It's the scumbags getting booted out for DUI's that really disgust me.
Brody Price
Lance Kyle went into the marines at like 34 and became Seal Team 6. Not comparing myself but you don't know who I am. 30 is not too hold it's a 4 year service and men peak in their 30s. It's getting close though.
Dylan Ortiz
This is just too cute to read, keep going
Wyatt Mitchell
You'll be this guy after day 5
Caleb Phillips
SPACE MARINES!!!!
Ryan Ortiz
you have no idea what the battlefield is. Go talk to veterans. Stop watching Hollywood movies. Hint: It's not pretty.
Levi Cruz
I have friends who've seen their buddies faces blown off, guys who have watched friends drag their legless torsos away from a blown up humvee with AK rounds going off everywhere kicking up dust. I know what its like the best you can describe it without experiencing it. That's not much but I'm not going in ignorant of the reality. The flip side is that 6 months leading up to that ambush you were bored out of your mind.
Kevin James
One of the more chilling stories was a guy who raided a house in Afghanistan looking for a suspect. The wife and kids were inside starving to death. Wife couldn't leave because she would be killed by Taliban for being outside without male guardian if they caught her
Carter Mitchell
Fight for israel goy, really good.
Jonathan Lewis
Wait we invaded Syria and Iran?
Matthew Sullivan
dont
youre literally gonna be a janitor for 4 years and be surronded by a bunch of kids right out of highschool who are retarded
join the army, they have newer equipment and you can work with the most cutting edge technology, plus they are more lenient with saluting and shit. marines is underfunded, you'll peobably use windows 7 or some shit, and the beat the shit out of you if you forget to salute a higher rank
Oliver Flores
What's your goal? I mean, what's the deep desire behind this? It's not "join the Marines and fight". There's something else.
Are you looking for honor? Purpose? Being led? Being in a group with a common goal? Adventure? Wanting to shoot sandniggers? What is it?
I'm too old for the military. When I was the right age, I was basically anti-military and told the recruiters to fuck off. Now I kinda wish I had enlisted. I like order. I like organization. I think it would have given me some good skills I could have used, and given me some purpose. These days, though, there's no fucking way I'd join. I don't want to defend oil pipelines from Stone Age religious nuts so some oil company magnate can make more money. That's not a good purpose.
Drill down deep and find the one or two things you are looking for. Then ask what will help you get that. Is it "join the Marines"? Then that can be an option. But there may be better options that have fewer negatives. Or different negatives. Or more positives.
Wyatt Carter
>more lenient with saluting and shit
Fucking degenerates.
>beat the shit out of you if you forget to salute a higher rank
As they should. Order is mandatory.
Liam Allen
> I mean, what's the deep desire behind this?
Death.
Anthony Bell
I would wager that you work with Americas enemies, so maybe just start with them.
Alexander Bell
Don't do it man, you have a 6 figure salary.
If you feel like your life is getting monotonous start saving so you can retire early and ex-pat to Poland and live in a tier 2 city like Krakow in the middle of the metropolitan area for $500 a month for the rest of your life nigga. Maybe make some investments in property and airbnb it for passive income. And grow a harem of polish model girlfriends.
"serving your country" is a meme. I'm actually in the process of commissioning as an officer in the Army, and let me tell you it's monotonous as fuck, extremely structured and basically you are government property. Go reserve if you want a life, otherwise prepare to grind your best years away.
Easton Phillips
Why the fuck would you do that? The only people that join at your age are dudes with wives and kids that need to find some way to support them. You'd feel out of place, everyone is going to be 18-20. Also, making $100,000...why that fuck would you leave that behind to make less than $20,000 a year? And the infantry.
That's stupid.
Andrew Clark
men peak at 18
Carter Harris
as twinks, maybe
Noah Hill
Go friend, heed the call of war. Don't listen to these sodomites who vote for money and security. That is not what a man thrives on.
Andrew Jones
dont
pay is shit, structure is shit
theres no real wars going on so youre not gonna be "in the shit"
nearly all our operations are stability ops
if you really feel the need to fight you could try to join a contractor company like ACADEMI but they probably wont accept you as you have no prior military experience, it helps if you already know someone who works with them that can give you a recommendation but with your situation chances are slim
Ryder Myers
>join the army >marines use windows 7
hahahahahha, the army just updated our systems to windows 10 this year, and we're underfunded as shit too, mostly due to shit contracts I work in aviation and we can hardly get parts for our aircraft, most of which arent even equipped to do GPS approaches (legally) friends in the armor division say their no better off, they had to drive their tanks on the backs of trucks to the training areas so they can save gas
the whole military is a shitshow
Andrew Perry
you fell for the HOORAH propaganda
Ian Carter
Slow day at the recruitment office?
Austin Campbell
JOIN THE SPACE FORCE, user.
Robert Johnson
go light, get rid of most of your shit keep to a computer, some clothes/personal effects, and a car/bike then go travel the world and explore
you've got the money for it
Jeremiah Brown
Absolutely retarded. You think you're going to be going on Black Ops raids killing terrorists. In actuality even if you stay in infantry you're going to be sitting on a base bored out of your mind 99.9% of the time. Everyone goes in thinking their going Navy Seals, Green Berets etc. after bootcamp noone wants to. Truth is your just joining some shitty federal bureaucracy and if you enlist your going to have some 19 yr old Corporal telling you what to do. I guess you could go officer but then your a not really an operator like you seem to want to be. Truth is your fucked on this dream and even if you were younger you'd probably wash out of the training for recon marines shit anyways.
Source: Work at Post Office in a shitty federal bureaucracy surrounded by huge amounts of vets.
James Richardson
If you want to go 10,000 miles away to fight and kill people for the glory of Israel and Wall Street greed, and maybe get killed or maimed in the process, go ahead and leave that 100K job.
Grayson Adams
I was in the infantry for 4 years. You'll fucking hate it.
Ethan Morales
No. Find a wife instead
Matthew Richardson
Ask a USAF or USN recruiter if the Space Force is open yet.
Thomas Myers
Join Force Recon or work as a network specialist (hacker). The thing is there is no war on the horizon. War IS NOT like the fkn movies little man.
Brandon Hughes
Combat vet hair ramadi Iraq from 2006 to 2007 for 16 months, I was also wounded, this is not the movies, keep your job or as hell and I've had three close friends commit suicide since getting out of that s*** hole not counting all the guys we lost. You've already developed to many based habits in life anyways.
Samuel Campbell
I don't understand why anyone would want to join a military. You will be a political tool for which ever political wind blows while you are in service
Caleb Hill
He's NOT too old. Cut off age for a Marine is 37 IIRC. I know I went to Camp Pendelton and spoke with head of Force Recon in late 90's...
Aiden Kelly
It's not all about the money for some people. There are other goals in life.
Ryan Bennett
join the reserves or national guard, at 30 it will be easier on your knees and back
Nicholas Evans
You're not going to get grunt level in the shit armed forces as a software engineer. Your tech skills and knowledge is more needed in other areas, behind a computer screen, being they can put a 19 year old kid from middle no where USA into a fox hole with a gun. It would be a waste for you and them to put you in that sort of role. So with that in mind, if it's not out of a desire to serve your country I don't see any reason to enlist. There are lots of other areas of life you can explore if you think you're too much of a CPU based desk pussy right now and want to man it up a bit.
Jonathan Davis
Unironically this. Be one of the first. Stay in until retirement (20 years if it's like the other forces). You'll probably do some very cool shit.
Chase Morales
are you a tranny?
James Campbell
>CPU based desk pussy
As a CPU based desk pussy myself, I laughed at this and agree. More geeks need to get off their fat asses and do something with their lives.
Ayden Murphy
>infantry >fight
you missed the war bud. you aint gonna do shit unless you're SOF
Brandon Young
the military has something for you to do that will use your degree, go for the brass ring
Wyatt Thomas
You have a similar problem all of us have (most of us here are 30, give or take a few years).
We hope for some great, high stakes adventure to come along where we might die but the rewards would be awesome adventure/crazy death. As if you're going to be a new world/space pioneer or soldier in a sudden and serious war. Such things are not coming, maybe the latter in a decade or so but I have doubts. Truth is we're just kind of coasting along and it's shit I agree but don't throw away what you have.
Depends. Do you like the taste of crayons? If yes, you'll fit right in!
Chase Torres
Yo dude, honestly fuck half the replies here. They're too young too understand. 4 or 8 years away from software dev wont stop you from getting a job when you get out. Men were never meant to find their true purpose in a office cube. If you need to get it out of your system - Do it.
Isaiah Gray
>I want to leave it all >I have no idea why I want to do this >I want to kill America's enemies >don't put much value to my life >talking to a psych would bar me from entry >I admire that strange mixture of incompetency and strenght, they are honorable men
If I were in you, I'd follow the advice of the other anons who adviced you to go to a therapist. From what you've written, it looks like you're experiencing a strong depression. You sound like you want to join the military just to find a justification to end your life: suicide is not an option, so you want to die fighting for a "greater good", to give some meaning to your death (because maybe you think that your life hasn't). You clearly have a very romantic view of the military: you say that you live near a military base, but you speak like the only things you know about the army are the high proclamations in the recruiting leaflets and hollywood propaganda. You say that you want to "fight the enemies of America", and this says much about your view of the world around you: do you really think that every fight is against "the enemies of America"? Do you really think that reality is that black and white? That american soldiers are the good guys, and others are the bad guys?
Seriously, mate. Go somewhere else. Seek therapeutic help. The army doesn't need a wannabe-kamikaze who despises his own life, and may be prone to "heroic acts" (that are heroic only in his head) that can instead put at risk the lives of his fellows.
In his case, masked suicide. The dude puts no value in his life, as he said. Who would want by his side a soldier that wants to die?
Bentley Hill
>I want to kill America's enemies Plenty in the United States. Why sign away your rights and die for the zog when you can target the treasonous in our country instead?
Leo Gomez
>Joining the military at 30 Sounds like you want to kill yourself but don't have the balls, so this is the next best thing
Jack Williams
True
Jackson Lee
I don't think that he doesn't have the balls to do that. From what he writes, it looks more like he thinks his life has no meaning, so he seeks a "meaningful" death.
Wyatt Smith
Have fun dying for Israel, burger.
Ian Reed
I wish man. That's actually my first choice but I doubt it would happen, just like I doubt I would ever even get to recon, despite all the comments in here of people saying I think I'm going to go on black ops raids. I don't think that.
Levi Harris
You're probably right, it's not that he doesn't have the balls, more that he realises suicide would be bad, shameful and meaningless. The wish for death is at the heart of it though.
Andrew Smith
Do you understand that those forces are so much larger than your measly little life. Saying stuff like, "I don't want to fight for wall street" is such a faggot simplistic onions boy way of looking at things.
I have so much more respect for the actual vet who just says "nah don't do it" than I do you fucking weak faggots.
>I have no idea why I want to do this because it's hardwired into your DNA to fight, you gigantic faggot
Evan Foster
Everyone watch out, this highschool graduate wants everyone to know that only 18 year olds with minimal education, life experience, or ability like himself can hack it.
Jaxson Anderson
If you're asking, you're stupid enough to do it. us military = israeli foreign legion.
William Hall
Don't go infantry man, if you're smart and want a career do something else in the corp. Don't break yourself going out field playing toy soldiers and regretting it later in life. I am re-enlisting and not doing infantry ever again. Most of my my mates still in there are getting the usual "oh there maybe, might, may not be, kinda will be a deployment next year!" before they discharge or they're so broken at the age of early 20's. Think smart brah
Asher Price
You go through life every day unconsciously unaware that you will die some day. It's not depressing to realize this and embrace it. It's a liberating feeling, that doesn't mean I'm putting a shot gun in my mouth it means I know the clock is ticking and you are blissfully unaware of it.
Easton Evans
I understand the macho appeal of military, but not the one that puts you in danger for the jew order.
Jackson Cruz
Why yes, you absolutely should leave a well-paying job to take a different lower-paying job that has a risk of disfigurement or death. That makes total sense.
Actually, you should just skip to the point and go hang yourself in your fucking closet.
Henry Perry
>i want to kill americas enemies You never will kill real enemies whos ruling your country instead you will be their toy
Anthony Clark
I don't need to "skills" route. I am a very talented engineer already. My biggest fear of joining the military is being put into some menial desk job. I don't need to know how to do accounting or fix munitions on a jet wing. I want to be given the chance to be a warrior, even if that means nothing and I end up just shoveling sand bags and digging out IEDs all day.
Angel Davis
> I want to kill America's enemies Wrong job then. Most of the US's enemies are in washington DC, israel.
I think you should pick up and move to a different area. I used to feel the same way you did but then I moved from Texas to Washington. It helped a lot. It feels great being out of a city.
Jayden Anderson
Join Combat Engineers (I don't know what it's called in the US) if you wanna do IED's... You sound like the 17yo me when I joined... not good
Juan Barnes
Realizing that your life will end one day it's not depressing. Instead, it gives you an additional sprint to make something of your life.
Thinking that your life has no value, it is. The guy clearly stated it in the OP. That's what makes me think that he just wants an excuse to die. Nobody in his right mind thinks his life is valueless, and soldiers are no exception. The sane ones, of course.
Ethan Turner
P.s.: to be more clear, OP clearly stated this:
> It's not even patriotic I literally just want to be in the shit and don't put much value to my life
Jaxon Russell
Go die for the kikes, please. More resources for me.
Julian Howard
Men do not peak physically in their 30s. You are thinking of men's careers.
Jaxon Roberts
at least blow up a synagogue or something user.
Jaxon Morgan
you low iq subhuman, if you want to kill muttistan's enemies, kill lefties, not sandniggers overseas. fucking dumbass.
Caleb Kelly
You will never see battle You will do systems or coms work away from any fire fight for the whole of your career Fucking idiot
Do it while you can user. I missed the boat. All my friends joined up and I passed because muh weed bro. Now I'm still wage cucking and my boys are only a few years from retirement and buying our local bar. Makes me want to OD on blackpills.
Carson Powell
Do it! MAGA!
William Carter
Yes. I went army Infantry and it was the best decision I ever made. you'll be forced to deal with a bunch of stupid shit and stupid people constantly but it forces you to learn how to deal with it and still get things done. you'll do more in 3 years than most people do in their entire lifetime. Plus you're gonna want to learn how to fight for when the civil war finally kicks off.
Jump in with both feet and never, ever, ever quit. it might be miserable at times but misery builds character.
This. With your experience, you would probably be placed or at least talked into going communications and data maintenance mos if you go the enlisted route. There are other jobs in usmc besides infantry. Don't know if it's still the case, but you can pick 3 mos categories in order of preference that interest you if you qualify for them based off your asvab score. Also, you seem like someone going through, hate to say this, quarter life crisis. I think a lot of us go through this. Might be best to try and put things into perspective first before making any decisions. Pretty sure there are plenty of opportunities for you to branch out in other ways.
Dominic Taylor
>make ~ $100k.
You would be fucking retarded to join the military.
Jace Hughes
unga me marine bunga me eat crayon ooga me rape jap booga
Ryan Martinez
>I work as a software engineer >and make ~ $100k. >I want to leave it all, join the Marines >as infantry and fight.
Top kek, mfw he gets stationed in some camp in the middle of nowhere and regrets ever quitting his six figure paying job to shoot maybe one person over the course of four years.
Anthony Moore
Join the navy. Try to becom an officer. Marine life is no shit 24/7. Good luck
Landon Wilson
No you fucking retard, why would you want to join ZOG? Join a PMC if you really have to.
>military >actually dangerous most of these assholes would have higher mortality rates from opioid overdoses if they didn't join and just stayed home in Shitberg, OH western militaries are actually gigantic pussies - they're armed with the most expensive weaponry money can buy and still basically trained on how to never take on a fair fight.
US military is statistically safer than working on a gas field. even at the height of the Iraq war.
