Occam's razor suggests we're most likely living in a simulation

youtube.com/watch?v=VqULEE7eY8M
Not convinced? Let's set the following premises:
>(1) The fraction of human‐level civilizations that reach a posthuman stage is very close to zero
>(2) The fraction of posthuman civilizations that are interested in running ancestor‐simulations is very close to zero
>(3) The fraction of all people with our kind of experiences that are living in a simulation is very close to one
If (1) is true, then we will almost certainly go extinct before reaching posthumanity
If (2) is true, then there must be a strong convergence among the courses of advanced civilizations so that virtually none contains any relatively wealthy individuals who desire to run ancestor‐simulations and are free to do so
If (3) is true, then we almost certainly live in a simulation. In the dark forest of our current ignorance, it seems sensible to apportion one’s credence roughly evenly between (1), (2), and (3)
Which leads to the following conclusion:
>Unless we are now living in a simulation, our descendants will almost certainly never run an ancestor‐simulation

This is satanism, gods creation is not a simulation.

Why do you believe in God?

it doesnt matter. you will never know the true nature of creation.

cus i read the bible

How can one simulate reality effectively without actually recreating it?
If you create a reality to act as a simulation it is a reality in of itself even if it is intended as a stimulation.
Therefore the simulation status is irrelevant as the simulation is a reality.

Asking questions is the only path towards enlightenment. Stay curious!
>How can one simulate reality effectively without actually recreating it?
You don't have to constantly simulate all of 'reality'. Just simulate the relevant parts and nobody will notice.
If you connect abstract ideas such as 'intended' and 'irrelevant' to an objective truth, how can anything beyond that reach your scope?

we are all npcs in a persistent MMO/skyrim type game that no player characters log into anymore

Or course we're all NPCs except when regarding ourselves. How is that not obvious?

the guy who originally came up with the "dude it's all just a simulation bro lmao" "theory" regrets potheads like joe rogan twisting his thesis into a "shit dumbasses like to say to try and sound smart" canard
he never used the word "simulation"

If you don't even know his name, it's very unlikely you have in depth understanding of his arguments. Keep lurking, we all had to start somewhere.

What is the purpose of the simulation?
Why not make a simpler simulation that does not need sentient life?

Well? Define posthuman, ancestor simulation, and tell how you know the information in 3. Don't just post edgy gifs and call people ignorant.

>What is the purpose of the simulation?
If I were to guess, it would be to see how retarded humans can get without losing molecular cohesion.

>posthuman: Mature stage of technological development that will make it possible to convert planets and other astronomical resources into enornously powerful computers.
>ancestor simulation: We noted that a rough approximation of the computational power of a planetary‐mass computer is 1042 operations per second, and that assumes only already known nanotechnological designs, which are probably far from optimal. A single such a computer could simulate the entire mental history of humankind
>tell how you know the information in 3: if you have to ask, you never really researched this specific topic.

Perhaps we'll never know, guys. Perhaps we'll never know.

I will never understand the disconnect of people who are atheist yet believe we are in a simulation. It's really retarded. A simulation would have to have been programmed by someone. This someone, relative to the people within the simulation, would be their God.

How is the developer of the Sims not God of the Sims? He is responsible for their very existence and can change any aspect about them or their world at the push of a button. Yet still, the same people who claim there is evidence for "the world being a simulation", will balk at the idea of an all-powerful God controlling it. It's logically absurd.

(The God is Yahowah btw)

This doesn't actually suggest we are living in a simulation, under any such consideration. If all three are true, then it is more likely that we will simply not reach posthumanity, than that we are a simulation.

Occam's razor is also bullshit

Occam's razor is retarded. its only valid if you know most or all of the information concerning the topic. which we dont in this case

Attached: rbright.jpg (640x640, 53K)

Because creating virtual worlds out of information doesn't make you what is considered a God.

If you want to reduce the requirements for being a God to something less than all powerful, one who is among many and can be killed like anyone else... then sure, any intelligent being in the universe that has surpassed us could be called Gods.

You are suggesting that we do not, or can not know if we are in a simulation or not.
This implies that there is, in fact, a possibility that we are in a simulation.

Furthermore, as logic dictates, it suggests that we can know if we are in a simulation or not.

I think I got the point, but will someone explain it to me using less big boy language? Especially 2 & 3.

If you kick a ball into the air, what will eventually happen to that ball?

fuck hwoever is running this siulation

>Human beings may some day create robots
>OMG we must all be robots

Or it could be that new universes are continuously being formed, and that new universes that give rise to intelligent life are being formed faster than simulated universes can form. Or it could be that simulated universes are less complex than base universes, and there are vastly more sentient beings that exist in base universes than in simulated universes. Or it could be that simulation is somehow incompatible with consciousness.

Fuck off christcuck leaf

>You are suggesting
all i was suggesting, is that occams razor is retarded to use in cases where you dont know or cannot know all the facts

>create niggers

Occrams razor is shit. I use one of the Gilletes with four blades because I like girls to walk up and stroke my jaw. I saw it on TV. Come to think of it the one I got might not be working properly..?

>hurr, ur ignaront

If there are civilizations that have reached a posthuman state (close to zero, as in, not zero), then give me an example.
3: the premise says we're living in a simulation, so if it's true, we're living in a simulation...so?

It will fall down?

Christians are so retarded they can't even spell

Is it fair to say you hate Christians?

>occams razor

why do a simulation in such a shitty timeline then? Why not far into the future or prehistoric times? Fuck I wanna live in the dino age in a comfy survival simulation, building giant anti dino forts and riding triceratops n sheit

>Occam's razor suggests we're most likely living in a simulation
No, it doesn't, false reasoning.

I couldn’t do that because the lack of access to proper hygiene would drive me fucking insane
I can’t leave the house without having showered

God i hate new age heretical garbage
>dude planets are computers and shit

Wtf are you on about. We are in an endless simulation generating simulation.

no u are mad tho

Except that a simulation is NOT the most simple explanation retard
slide thread
sage

Doesn't everybody?

none of those three things are true though

you fucking retarded... who do you think created the simulation

>he doesn't want to become god

what do you mean ? those are the only options concerning sim theory

option (4) you can't run a simulation of the universe

John Locke's Response:
>We live in a simulation
>All our senses are merely simulated responses
>Then why is it that we only started tasting the sensation of Pineapple after we travelled to the Caribbean?
Occam's Razor

Attached: fascinating.gif (460x258, 595K)

Fucking retarded. It ignores what the simulator must be.

>How is the developer of the Sims not God of the Sims?
Developer, try the motherfucking player, mate; how is the general shit-for-brains PLAYER not God to the Sims?

BEcause this is stupid reddit tier ted talk bullshit that has no basis in reality and doesn't adhere to logic. There is clearly something special and mysterious about consciousness that is not mechanistic.
>we are atoms/flux matter using our minds to debate how there's a mind when we're just flux matter
See, that's nonsense. The empirical worldview is cancer.
