William Whatcott, a well-known anti-LGBTQ activist wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for wilful promotion of hatred, plans to turn himself in this week, according to his lawyer.
Whatcott, who once lived in New Westminster, is accused of distributing 3,000 pamphlets to attendees at Pride Toronto’s 2016 parade. They contained what Toronto police call “hateful” content. A warrant was issued in spring 2018.
Whatcott, who described himself in previous court proceedings as a “Christian activist” who formerly “engaged in same-sex sexual activity,” could not be reached for comment. His current lawyer, Lugosi, said his client intends to co-operate with police but will challenge the allegation. Lugosi said Monday he has yet to read the warrant.

The authors investigated the role of homosexual arousal in exclusively heterosexual men who admitted negative affect toward homosexual individuals. Participants consisted of a group of homophobic men (n = 35) and a group of nonhomophobic men (n = 29); they were assigned to groups on the basis of their scores on the Index of Homophobia (W. W. Hudson & W. A. Ricketts, 1980). The men were exposed to sexually explicit erotic stimuli consisting of heterosexual, male homosexual, and lesbian videotapes, and changes in penile circumference were monitored. They also completed an Aggression Questionnaire (A. H. Buss & M. Perry, 1992). Both groups exhibited increases in penile circumference to the heterosexual and female homosexual videos. Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile erection to male homosexual stimuli. The groups did not differ in aggression. Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies.
A 1996 study from the Journal of Abnormal Psychology found that homophobic heterosexual men were most sexually aroused by gay male porn than non-homophobic hetero men.
A 2012 study of 785 college students published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology found that “self-described highly straight individuals” who “indicated some level of same-sex attraction” were significantly more likely than others to “express greater implicit hostility toward gay subjects” including supporting anti-gay policies.
A 2017 study published in the journal Sex Roles said that men who felt insecure about their masculinity were more likely to make homophobic and sexist jokes to appear more manly.

When I was living in San Francisco after college for a great job offer I liked going to an Irish pub every now and then to grab a few beers and watch some sports. (Didn't have a tv). It was on a Friday afternoon during that time where the bars were empty before the boisterous weekend crowd arrived. I liked taking advantage of this to unwind after a long week. Anyway I was at the end of the bar sipping my beer when two middle aged men arrived and sat next to me even though the whole bar was empty. I quickly realized they were gay from their banter. Time passed and I was on my second beer. The faggots became increasingly loud and giggling. They were talking shit. It was obvious. The one sitting close to me "laughed" so hard he spit his drink on me. Yep like that's actually a thing... from some fucking movie. The hair on my neck stood up and I was about to crush his skull into a pulp. I was able to restrain myself enough to not see red. He apologized and the two continued to giggle like children. After cooling off a bit I looked at him for a good few minutes and he wouldn't turn to me.... the cowardly rodent. In this time my anger turned to pity. Here was this middle aged disgusting faggot that went so far as to do something so stupid and disgusting. What kind of sick, depraved individual would do something of that sort ? Anyway I left the bar with an even greater distaste for people that live that distorted lifestyle.
