Comedy on television is terrible for politics. They all literally have the same opinions and jokes. Even the streaming sites like netflix are cucked.
It's more like politics ruined comedy. Stand up comedians used to be the source of politically incorrect content. Now they are the most sanitized group-think content you can find.
There are still some based comedians but you have to see them live because even platforms like youtube won't allow them.

It's the other way around. It's funny how people completely forget that comedians and celebrities have no political expertise and that they are paid actors. As soon as they start to pander their political beliefs, they use them as an appeal to authority. It makes it attractive and profitable, too.
Then again, I believe that for politics, it has actually been beneficial, specially for right wing politics. The greatest comedians have already spoken against Trump bashing, calling it low hanging fruit. And that's what it is. It might work for a while but after over a year of whining, it just created Trump bashing fatigue.
