I don't support the UK government, but I do support some of their recent laws. They're pretty good. This one, the requirement to register online for porn access and banning the sale of energy drinks to minors are in my opinion good laws, and I would enact them myself.

You install cameras in the homes of problem people, eventually all council houses. Eventually even new build private homes will be required to have cameras installed. Then when a house is sold the vendor has to ensure camera are installed to the new standard before a sale can be approved etc. etc. One step at a time as it becomes socially acceptable.

I haven't rented to anyone privately, but my understanding is that it’s common for there to be a cleaning deposit and or one month’s rent advance that can be used to cover that. Tennant’s are always expected to return the property in good condition or pay to put it right.
