Basic gestalt: low-IQ native Hawaiians want all telescopes removed from the summit of Mauna Kea.
This shit is fucking unacceptable as well as racist against the White scientists who have labored tirelessly for years to understand the Universe by building these fucking enormous miracles of engineering.
What makes a telescope work is that the entire mirror (can be ~100 feet across) is smooth and the right shape to micron precision (~0.00002 inches). Not to mention the robot-controlled adaptive optics, data analysis, mirror recoating facilities, high-bit-depth cameras, etc. etc. We're talking billions of dollars for high-IQ people to sit in the dark for years to do this shit. It's as hard as rocket science. Dumb people literally cannot do this work.
It's important for, oh i don't know, FINDING EXOPLANETS. Existing telescopes have found thousands of exoplanets, some of which are Earth-like. Not to mention scouting the skies to rule out incoming Deep Impacts and Ayys.
Mauna Kea Observatory is the best observing site in the northern hemisphere. Big telescopes need high elevations, dry weather, and dark skies...things that are found basically nowhere on Earth except for a few mountains. Mauna Kea is the best place on Earth to see the Northern half of the sky.
The natives stopped construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT); next they want all the telescopes GONE. They're trying to get the lease pulled via lobbying and the court system. This must not happen...it would cripple human progress in astronomy.
WHAT TO MEME: Boycott Hawaii until they guarantee the Observatory's right to exist. If necessary, rename the TMT to the Trump Telescope as part of an Executive Order.

MESSAGE: "Hawaii's racist obstruction of the TMT project is unacceptable. I am boycotting Hawaii until TMT is fully approved and a perpetual lease granted for Mauna Kea"
Yeah because looking at random shit millions of light years away is really helpful to humanity.
James Richardson
Who gives a shit what happens on that faggot Democrat Island?
Charles Smith
here's the deal: i'm a humble user, unironically not running a psyop, though i have learned from the many psyops my eyeballs have been subjected to on this fucking board. if i'm fucking up, what do you propose i do differently?
thing is, i give a shit about these telescopes. mauna kea is the best observatory site in the usa, and it's a shame that protesters are shutting it down and setting a precedent of shutting down big science projects.
as a White man, building shit like this to explore the unknown is my religion; my calling...to help humanity know the mind of God
also, have a deep field image. there are a shitton of other galaxies out there.
> bubble mechanism which does not match the spectra, luminosity, distribution, coherence, lifecycle, or movement of actual stars > 17 shill posts by this fucking shill
checked but off-topic. also, i'm going to give you a turing test. please answer appropriately.
Andromeda is a fucking (((Galaxy))), but since stars and planets and the moon are luminaries that's a lie!
Chase Hernandez
That is Really Your well-
Analyzed Good-quality Answer? In Northern
Skies there Have been seen Intense stars whose Lights shine with Luminances time-varying in ways indicating they're not Bubbles, but actually Overwhelmingly-distant explosions. Try refuting that?
>Try refuting that? You said a bunch of buzzwords, they're not explosions it's sonoluminescence. I think you're a faggot for even assuming I was a bot because you're too closed minded to accept the fact that space is a meme.
Andrew Gomez
sure, most astrophysicists are fully pozzed but only because their field is so heavily IQ-gated that they've never encountered the real world.
if astrophysicists get redpilled, they will spread this knowledge through the academic establishment...
more gibs and enjoying the power process of sticking it to the white man.
also, a past thread said
There was a "Hawaiian activist" on Maui (been dead for years now). He used to protest every telescope project being built on Haleakala. The solution was always to hire him as a "cultural consultant" for the project. In other words, he'd lead a big a protest until they gave enough money to shut up and go away. That's what's happening here. Same thing with the Keystone Pipeline. Its all a big scam.
supreme court will rule against them eventually user.... but they will need lots of security afterwards, crazy lefty locals will do stupid shit after they lose
Nathaniel Walker
Yeah nobody cares about what exoplanet you want to escape the reality of earth for. Maybe the asaris will mind fuck you on saturn for the cult of the goyim. But seriously the observatory should stay if only for a curiousity. Its impact on economy however is negligible as it all is operated by federal funds not local taxes. The point is moot. Observatory will exist until USA ceases to exist and even then will become a landmark which the natives will fight over as they seek to master the heavens and reign over each other. its not about looking. Its about measuring space math and quantifying cosmic physics to create modern energy devices and improving society. Same as astronomy bemefited newtonian society amd advanced trebuchet tech and other such industrial mechanics.
Hudson Rogers
Sometimes, just sometimes, it’s not the Jews.
Jeremiah Wood
mfw they release all the free energy devices they created by literally looking at space dust
Just your typical native scam. 1) Protest and cry at any big public or private construction project until you receive enough gibs 2) Buy and drink alcohol 3) participate/larp in your "ancient ritual"
Chase Peterson
Even when it isn't the jews, it's still the jews. The primitives have been emboldened by the jews and the whites have been emasculated to the point of allowing this kind of insubordination.
Jason Smith
Outlook: grim.
SJWs in charge of the state
Anti-sciene evangelicals in charge at the Federal level
Redpill: the Europeans fund similar telescopes in the Andes. The US will probably pass from this Earth but hopefully Europe will continue.
This. I lived in Hawaii for a few years, and I'd bet the farm that the locals don't give a damn about that mountain and just want to stick it to whitey. Their arguments are some cultural bullshit, and they can't/won't articulate why a relatively small spec on the horizon will disrupt their "rituals." They also try to pull the environmental card; however the environmental impact was determined to be minimal, and I guarantee that any scientists stationed there will clean up after themselves better than many of these "activists" who use the mountain for their activities.
SJW love Nasa, so your best bet is to pitch it as retarded Indians against NASA. Go on campus, practically every basic bitch in any major is wearing the Ad Astra logo. The fact that the agency hasn't already slam-dunked this means they need to summarily execute all their PR people on livestream.
This shit infuriates me so fucking much, the place is a barren fucking desertic mountains, fucking piss off with your joo joo of the mountain fucking pychosis, why the fuck did we not finish the job and exterminates all the natives for fuck sake, the white men never finish anything properly.
Elijah Perry
the lesson from history is it's wrong to exterminate anyone. Jow Forums is a board of peace. but building this is such an obvious win for everyone...
i just like to look at the stars and marvel at how vast and deep the universe truly is. there is so much of God's great creation that we do not yet understand.
Native Hawaiians are the worst of the Polynesians. Samoans and Tongans find then laughable, and I can see why. They are the biggest We Wuzzers out there, but with Queens in stead of kangz.
Nathan Gutierrez
they're still people. foolish and limited, sure, but then so am i. it's important to be kind and to make real connections with people. especially people with whom one disagrees.
Thanks user! I didn't knew about this until now and allthough I'm not a Burger I will write some complaints to authorities. Big fan of hobby astronomy so I will hope and pray they won't remove it for bs reasons.
Jack Stewart
glad you asked! the USA is building one of each... JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE is in space > perfect seeing at all times since zero atmosphere > millions of miles from human-caused light pollution
THIRTY METER TELESCOPE is on earth > doesn't cost $150 million for a launch on a high-reliability multi-stage launch platform capable of reaching the Earth-Moon lagrange points > easily accessible for service, maintenance, and upgrades
Science-wise, generally a space telescope is pretty much always better than the ground-based telescope, but is also in much higher demand and tends to have older equipment.
Then there are some different types of telescopes for different goals: spectrometers (measure color to identify chemical makeup), interferometers (measure phase of incoming light...hard to do...to build up very high resolution pictures of very tiny stuff), as well as some star masking tools (one way to look for exoplanets), not to mention just taking images.
feasibility is a function of dollars and political will. there are more nerds who want to build this stuff than there are dollars to fund it.
Your post makes me believe you should lurk more and go back to your shithole. You're entire post tells me you are some scrawny little fag who is using victimization and other buzzwords to gather (You)s.
Tyler Johnson
welcome to Jow Forums. don't forget, you're here forever.
I've been here since before Jow Forums. What I see here is mostly pathetic but their is a few special people here that are worth the conversation. This place is great for shitposting and watching most whites here further do damage to their own race.
Justin Davis
I really fucking wish we could put more public and private funding into science technologies and infrastructure like this. Really stuff like this is the future of our species and it's sad to see people becoming increasingly disinterested in it as science becomes more and more of a niche interest.
That said, I don't have a voice on twitter, but if you want to really sway government officials then I would recommend the old tried and true method of just sending them mail directly or even just calling them. As it happens a lot of people even in higher places of the government end up being pretty accessible, and they'll take a few minutes of their time to listen to what you have to say if you put the effort in to contact you even if you're not one of their direct constituents.
Let them know why you think projects like this are important and let them know that you think it's important for them to and that it should be a point of pride for them should they find a way to keep these projects running and productive.
Politicians and public servants might seem like distant, self obsessed, hyper-partisan people, and sometimes they might be those things, but in a lot of cases they're just people who are just really invested in their communities and the people in and around their communities. As when someone comes to them and speaks with them with knowledge on a particular subject and a similar level of investment regarding something, they will acknowledge that energy and consider it going forward.
It's worth a shot if nothing else. If not in replacement for your psy-op here then at least try it alongside it.
Jaxon Jackson
America is about to become a Christian nation. You and your like who advocate for your "highly technical and scientific" astrology. Will suffer the wrath of God.
Brody Baker
>feasibility is a function of dollars and political will. there are more nerds who want to build this stuff than there are dollars to fund it
Would you rather 10 nonrich geniuses or 10 rich nongeniuses?
I wonder if the current system is producing the two in one or the two in two...
And then there's know-how.
Thank you for your informative reply based telescope guy.
There are also the huge radio telescope arrays (spanning much of the globe) and gravity telescopes like LIGO. Those are more exciting IMO.
Jack Rivera
Dumb comment.
Jayden Lee
True. Native Hawaiians are retarded with a huge chip on their shoulders. Most of the middle class in Hawaii is either white or of Japanese descent.
Bentley Baker
But why do they want those telescopes removed? It's not like they pollute the atmosphere, take up too much space or use child labor.
James Sanchez
>Would you rather 10 nonrich geniuses or 10 rich nongeniuses? I guess that makes sense. The work is difficult enough that there's a high bar for being a net positive contributor. It's similar to programming in that a careless or unqualified person can cause more problems than they solve. Telescopes are delicate, custom, precision equipment...carelessness or cluelessness can cause very expensive damage very quickly, and process controls can only do so much to reduce the risk. At the end of the day it requires smart, careful people. i wish that people would vote for policies that would create more high-IQ individuals and train them with the discipline and care needed to work on and around, say, multimillion dollar hunks of easily-scratched glass. thing is, normies tend to vote for laws that reward and encourage more low-IQ behavior...and it's politically-incorrect to even talk about. Which is why I'm here. In the current system, I guess it makes sense to only fund as many people as will definitely be net contributors immediately. Unfortunately the Cabal is too pozzed to properly train up the next generation of STEM workers...their focus on control, diversity, and liberal undiscipline is causing lower standards which means fewer successful projects.
