Rebels launch retaliatory attack after Syrian Army advances in southwest Syria
BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:00 P.M.) – The rebel forces in southwest Syria launched retaliatory attacks against the civilians living in the government-held areas of the Dara’a Governorate on Saturday.
According to a military source in Dara’a, the rebels attacked the Syrian government-held Panorama area of Dara’a, Saturday, killing at least two civilians and wounding five others in the provincial capital.

>Breaking: Iraqi Air Force kills Baghdadi’s cousin, several ISIS commanders in Syria
BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:45 P.M.) – The Iraqi Air Force carried out a strategic bombing, Saturday, that targeted the Islamic State’s (ISIS) command meeting in Syria.
According to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, their F-16 bombers targeted an Islamic State central command meeting that was being held in eastern Syria this weekend.
The F-16 bombers annihilated the entire building where the meeting was held, killing more than 45 Islamic State combatants and their leaders.
Among the Islamic State terrorists that were killed this weekend was the cousin of the group’s infamous leader and founder Ibrahim Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.
This targeted bombing is another major blow to the terrorist group this week, as their first symbolic loss took place at Tal Safouk, which is a border-crossing that was lost to the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Tal Safouk was where the leaders of the Islamic State first announced the start of their so-called ‘caliphate’ in both Iraq and Syria.
How come Iraq can do something the coalition can't? Is being in a coalition a reason of incompetence (in both Yemen and Syria)?

New message from U.S. Embassy Amman to southern rebels: Make your own decision, but “you should not base your decision on the assumption or expectation of military intervention by us.”
Yeah that's the dagger in the heart. RIP FSA in Daraa, if anything the US is going to have to only supply the Rebs with weapons, and at most MAYBE a precision strike when the Daraa is literally gainz by the SAA.
We can't really do shit beyond supplying them. Jordan wants the Rebels gone, Israel looks pretty much uncaring since they're attacking not even in Daraa, Russia is now doing airstrikes and integrated themselves with the Syrians. Even the Rebels are falling apart and are wanting to switch sides. I don't think we can do anything at this point.
I'll be surprised if we do something because Mattis isn't going to budge despite Bolton and Pompeo screeching at him to die for Israel.

it's funny how Mattis is the most moderate out of all the neo-hawks right now in the trump administration

Mattis is the only one who really understands that you don't actually win wars just by stroking your dick while claiming that the US armed forces are the greatest forces that G-d ever put on any planet.

as if that ever was an option. The CW bullshit was already stretching it, bombing them to stop them from liberating land held by rebels they have no forces embedded in is out of the question

The advisors from the branches of the military appointed by the President you fucking moron. Mattis + them and that is all the US military agreeing, therefor if they say go the pesident "should" listen to their advice most likely.

I wasn't expecting them to do a good cop bad cop routine, with the good cop role going to a General called 'Mad Dog'. But since this administration is hell bent on trying to act like they're doing something big and powerful, while overstating the facts, i'm not that surprised they're going with this routine. Truth be told, they don't even look like competent leaders in the US administration. Only placeholders trying to push for an agenda that they solely can't manipulate because in the end, they're just pawns for the real play makers in positions of power

>West & its Arab stooges are terrified of a genuinely independent Yemen
Hodeidah - supplies 70 percent of imports in a country dependent on imports for 90 percent of its food, fuel and medicine. Given that 8.4 mill people are already starving, with a further 14 mill dependent on food aid for survival, it is not hard to see how even a temporary disruption to this ‘lifeline’ could result in mils of deaths. But what makes Western powers - and their Arab proxies - so willing to contemplate such a genocidal level of killing, just to ensure a Saudi-Emirati victory over their impoverished neighbor?
Ultimately, the answer to this question lies not in “fear of Iranian influence” - which has been vastly overstated, and is little more than an attempt to demonize an authentic indigenous resistance movement - nor in the desire to “restore the legitimate government” - a hideous joke of a pretext, given that Hadi’s so-called “mandate” expired in 2014, having failed to achieve - nor even pursue - any of what he was cautiously mandated to do in 2012 (in an election in which his was the only name on the ballot). Rather, what the West and its Arab stooges are truly terrified of is a genuinely independent Yemen. And this is precisely what the Ansar Allah movement represent.
In his superb new book, Destroying Yemen: What Chaos in Arabia Tells Us About the World, Professor Isa Blumi shows how the war on Ansar Allah (the Houthis) now underway is but the latest in 100 years of futile attempts to crush Yemen’s indomitable resistance.
The fact that it has been able to withstand over three years of devastating war, waged by a ten-country coalition directed and armed by the world’s most formidable military powers, should alone demonstrate that it is this extraordinary movement, not the so-called ‘President’, who cannot even set foot in his own country, who have the real claim to legitimacy.
