Look man... You can have different levels of fascism and you need not have a stranglehold on the economy but if there is anything that full on capitalism has taught us it is that an uncontrolled commerce leads to bloated industries such as fast food. People are in general quite stupid and will spend their money as such.
But the economic factor is a small and not so important part of the ideology.
You could have all kinds of flavors of National Socialism. Libertarian National Socialism for example.
You might say that it is contradictory to put libertarianism together with socialism but Hitler himself regretted having the word socialist in the party's name because it was misleading.

Yeah, that irked the hell out of me. The muzzies are super civilized and the Crusaders are pretty much a ragtag group of misfit invaders.
I think it's a good sign to annoy people that the Crusaders are depicted as fools or idiots. It hones in the theme of the movie that the idea of dogmatic/arrogant authority can lead to failure while a person who truly strives to find Heaven can make a series of small decisions that can save everyone.
The Muslims aren't the real enemy of the film, it was the arrogance of a small group of crusaders who gambled the fate of Jerusalem for the sake of personal glory. Their actions led to the Muslims taking it and arguably meaning the Will of God was for the crusaders to lose, but the spiritual revelations of the main character led to the people of Jerusalem being spared.
It's a good link to the current state of affairs in the West where many terrible leaders use the moral high ground to defend their terrible actions, and others use this opportunity to take what they want. But the actions of one righteous man can help spare the fate of the people.
