Also I'm not sure if it's necessarily true that poor white trash voted for Trump. Historically non-Hispanic whites in the bottom third of the income distribution (the bottom 33.3%) have voted for the Democrats more often than not believe it or not.

I would consider myself a white trash girl (my parents were blue-collar. My oldest brother and older sister went to University and got six figure jobs. I didn't go to Uni/college because there's no guarantee that it will actually improve your job prospects. Lots of grads are still working at Starbucks. Whenever people talk about "working-class whites" voting for Trump, they mean whites who don't have a college degree. That is NOT the same thing as low-income whites. You can be a boomer who got a job that supports an entire family out of high school and have a nice fat 401k and a house that appreciated a ton in value since you bought it in the 70s. There is literally nothing wrong with this. A mobile home just recently placed on a lot may not seem like much, but once you build a garage, a really nice deck, and/or a den extension it's not that bad.

When my grandparents sold their farm and moved in town they did just that. They bought a lot in town, put a trailer on it, built a garage and a den. It looks nice as long as you take care of it.

When my parents married they bought a trailer, and when they moved their trailer moved with them. Because my Dad was willing to move for the company, he rose quickly to upper management position where he was able to settle down and buy a house.

It is much better for young people to buy a $80,000 or so trailer and paying lot fees than to buy a house they can't afford or just pay their (((landlord))) rent.

I have some family that owns quite a bit of land out in west Texas, and every few years they just buy another pre-fabricated house for their Sons to have grandchildren. They squeak when you walk in them, and the ceiling is low, but you can legitimately have a family of 50 by the time you are in your sixties and run a county. I came from an upper middle class suburban lifestyle, and I get pretty fucking jealous when I visit my Country relatives. They all know how to fix shit too. They can pool some money, head to a scrap yard, find a few broken trucks and repair them for next to nothing. They even have close to a dozen boats.They just pull up to a nature reserve, fire up the grills, get the boats on the lake and go hunting for a week. Don't knock cheap living. As long as first cousins aren't fucking, trailer people can be pretty interesting.
