HD has been on its way out for a long time. They have already moved production to India and refuse to innovate or appeal to anyone under 50 (not fully supporting Buell). Most guys I know with cruisers go for Star or Honda motorcycles because they're modern bikes that are reasonably priced.

Harley Davidson has been struggling for a while now because their main clientele (boomers) have been dying or retiring and can't ride anymore. They are overpriced and when you buy one you are mainly paying for the name. This is why they have failed to market to a younger generation who have less disposable income (mainly thanks to what boomers have done to the economy) and will go with the cheaper options.
