After we do 380 hours of in-class instruction then we get indentured to a union-charter shop and start making $ working on jobsites. My friend just finished his 1st year apprenticeship with a union-charter shop and hes already got his twice-a-year pay raise, he says its the best decision hes ever made.

I would. The main reason I don't drive one exclusively is because of how much gas costs. If I could get even 90% of the power of gas in a Tesla truck, I'd get one if it were around $50k or so. Considering any new pickup is already around that price.

Just buy slightly used, brand new is a meme. I bought my 16' 6.2l 4x4 Sierra for 31,499 with 25k miles and it gets 21~24 mpg highway.
