Feel kinda the same way but it's a bit differant with me.
I have noticed that vidya is becoming more and more low quality.

It screams low-T to me and makes me question capitalism. It's that bad. I just can't anymore. Hell I find more enjoyment in news, exercise, and informational stuff than I do vidya.

I'm in the same boat OP. I used to play games all the time and now I can't play anything except for dota for more than an hour. I think it's actually due to the synapsed in our brains getting burnt out from gaming for so long, and the fact that the games coming out now just aren't as good as they were a decade ago. There are other ways to have fun you know, you can try playing an instrument, or learning something. I started reading John Green novels, I fucking love them even though they're corny as fuck. You can also try playing Pokemon Go, it's a great social game where you can meet a lot of cool people if you're in the right area.

So far this summer I've been having fun with real live golf.

I play SNES with my kids. Shit is still fun as hell. All the Mario Bros, Contra III, etc.

We have some new systems, but it’s not even challenging. All you have to do is play to win. Here’s your participation trophy. My kids need some competition and challenge, not this lame new stuff.

I'm 26 and still play runescape. Only game I enjoy. Cant wait for mobile client to come out

It's capitalism in vidya. There's very little variety like there was in the 80s and 90s. Instead it's mostly FPS. There are established titles, so they will rehash them to the end of time. Women spend more than men, so they're catering to them now. There's no feel of success in getting good when you know a 7 year old can buy all the mods and beat your ass that same day. Vidya is like movies and TV shows: everything has been tried, they got a formula for sales, and they're not going to risk change and thus it will be boring. It was fun while it lasted.

Fuck I miss those stories about people walking into dindu areas to get pokemons and getting murdered and raped.

It is though. Objectively speaking, games are pozzed today. Same shit and it's getting easier to win everyday along with being more cucked. Growing up is definitely part of it. I haven't played games in a while, but it still doesn't change the fact they suck compared to older comfy games.

Seriously? They even said they didn’t originally release it in the American market because it was too difficult. I think so, too. Granted, I played 1, 3, and World 10x more which probably accounts for why I find them easier to this day. All are still fun, though. I’m glad my kids enjoy them.

Not even sure what you’re getting at. I’ll play them with my kids because they’re way better than modern games, but I don’t play the new stuff unless my kids want me to play against them in something like battle in Minecraft (sounds nerdy, but my kids enjoy it). I’ll do that occasionally, but we usually go camping, hiking, climbing, fishing, hunting, skiing, etc. I still enjoy oldschool games, but it’s only a random thing now (used to be a daily gamer).

I haven't turned on my Xbox in over a year. Also, when I did play, I found myself playing exclusively my older games (Skyrim, Diablo 3, and Halo) and did not buy any new titles in 2016 or 2017. I can honestly say Im a better person for it.

True. Good game. Personally, I prefer Metal Gear Solid (PS1) for the atmosphere and oldschool gameplay, but that was a golden era of gaming for sure. SNES and Sega days may have come close. Looking up cheat codes in books at the book store and secretly writing them down on a piece of paper was a thrill in itself.
