Most people with partial jewish ancestry want to be on the "winning team" which is why they emphasize their jewish identity and reject any white identity. I've met people with 1/4 or less jewish ancestry who claim to be "jewish" because they think it will get them special treatment in job applications.

Yes but it's a religious and ethnic boundary not a racial boundary. No Ashkenazi jew could conceivably move to Nigeria and pretend to be "just another Nigerian".
