Another deadly clash erupt among Taliban, ISIS-K militants in Kunar
Another deadly clash erupted among the Taliban and militants affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Khurasan (ISIS-K) in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan.
The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military in the East said the latest clash between the Taliban and ISIS-K militants took place in the vicinity of Chapara Dara district.
Silab Corps further added that the clash left at least four ISIS-K militants dead while at least nine others were detained by the Taliban insurgents.
According to the Silab Corps, at least two Taliban insurgents were also captured by ISIS-K militants during the clash.
This comes as a deadly clash took place among the local public uprising forces and militants affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Khurasan (ISIS-K) in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan late on Sunday night in the vicinity of Nazian district, leaving several people dead from the two sides.
The provincial government media office in a statement said the clash erupted after the local public uprising forces stormed into the hideouts of the terror group in Morchal area.
The statement further added that the clash left at least eight ISIS-K militants dead while three others were arrested.
At least two public uprising forces were also killed during the clash and two others sustained injuries, the provincial government added in its statement.
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): An 18-member Taliban group, including their commander, joined the peace process in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Wednesday.
The reconciling militants had been active against the government in Torghar locality of Khogyani district.
Governor Hayatullah Hayat welcomed the former rebels at a special ceremony in their honor.
He announced the group, led by Mohammad Hassan aka Zubair, joined the peace process --- the first group joining the government after the bilateral ceasefire.
He said the 18-member Taliban group joined the peace process thanks to hectic efforts of National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel. The Taliban also turned in their 18 weapons to NDS officials.
Commander Hassan said after the two sides announced truce, they visited the provincial city, Jalalabad, where they were welcomed by government officials and people.
The Imam of Harmain Al Sharifain in his Friday sermon prayed for peace in Afghanistan and declared a fatwa against the war in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan ulema have also called the ongoing war in Afghanistan as against Islam.
Malik Aslam, who started war against the government in compliance with a fatwa of his village’s imam, but when he visited the city, he found mosques and seminaries and thus joined the peace process.
