Canada’s foreign minister announced Friday that Ottowa plans to impose about $12.6 billion worth of retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods on July 1.
The country is working closely with the European Union and Mexico, according to Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland.
“We will not escalate, and we will not back down,” Freeland said.
The announcement is part of larger fallout from U.S. President Donald Trump's announcements on trade. The U.S. has levied tariffs of 25 percent on steel and 10 percent on aluminum on Canada, the EU and other nations. As a result, some of the U.S.' biggest trading partners have retaliated with counter-tariffs.
The U.S. accounted for 55 percent of Canada's steel imports in 2017, with the remainder coming from China, South Korea, Brazil and Turkey.

The median age for non white people in the US between the last census and now has increased 4x faster, despite all the stuff you hear about “rapidly aging” white people, specifically those in rural areas, it appears that non white people will also have a median age of 41 - 44 by July 2032 - July 2035. Also birth rates for Rural and Urban white women have gone up in the past 8.25 years. While suburban White Women have gone down from 2.4 to 2.1 in the same time period. Specifically from 2.2 to 2.1 just last year. Also the increase was seen for Black women in Rural and Urban areas too. Hispanics outside of the deep southwest are down drastically.
