Engineers for instance can't understand any literature that isn't coelho or harry potter, so they tend to look down on philosophy. That's why you'll see 99% of engineers falling for neocon and lolbertarian streams of thought, or they'll adopt mainstream liberal position in some cases.

I still read a lot. My on-call transportation job allows me to read between two and five hours a week easy.

I'm pretty sure reading words will be a thing of the past within our lifetimes but I'm going to consciously stay well-read so that everything all of my thoughts and opinions don't get oversimplified like everything else.
