If the hurdle to getting weapons is higher arming oneself becomes more expensive, making it an investment. Most people capable of making such an investment are above petty crime.
Literally the only people here who illegally own weapons are organised crime and they're too smart to actually use these weapons on ordinary citizens because they realise the moment they do they'll get crushed by the state.

I'm personally a fan of 1095 and 80CRV2 high carbons. I like their edge retention and a high carbon steel knife is a responsibility as opposed to stainless.

I was just discussing the finer points of our Weapon Law with you. There are many useful weapons that are not banned that we regularly carry, such as assault umbrellas.
