i get about 12mpg with my truck pulling my boat to the lake which gets about 6mpg. literally could not care less what the price of gas is lmao

America is pulling more crude out of the ground, but not refining much more oil than they did in the 70s. the last refinery was built somewhere around 1980. it's illegal to build a new one without Congressional approval (and until last year, was illegal to export crude...geniuses in Congress). there's been some improvements in refining efficiency, and some refinery expansions, but the US still can't supply its own petrochemical product needs.
