Retard babies aren't guaranteed. In fact with modern technology it's mostly a non-issue (and it's only a real problem if it's incest over generations not a single generation). More importantly incestuous siblings are nowhere near as common as homos and don't require the breaking down of certain important values to be accepted by society at large. It makes little difference if incest is accepted.

Why is any of that necessary? How does breaking down a social taboo like incest benefit anyone at all in any way?

There is literally nothing wrong with incest between siblings unless the girls remains pregnant, there it can become problematic due to high chances of birth defects, but it's not like you can't use artificial insemination to impregnate with compatible sperm, it's the current year after all, even down people with garbage genes can have healthy children with artificial insemination, of course nothing is free, it's expensive operations. Poor incestuous couples should just use condoms.
