Weed doesn't turn people liberal, but to get weed it helps if you are liberal. Most liberals are criminals in their hearts and have no regard for the law. So you have to basically have criminal friends to begin with.

If you want to smoke weed in most states, you must engage in several criminal acts. Conservatives from good families, with jobs, who get drug tested, are much less likely to even be able to obtain said marijuana, never mind taking the risk of smoking it then getting drug tested.

Weed hasn't effected me in terms of beliefs, liberalness, conservativeness etc.. it does however erode my work ethic / will to workout / diet ... and dampened my interest in things that normally I find fun / interesting if I smoke it too often.

no. I've been a daily smoker for around 4 years and I'm hard right. I actually became way more right wing in the time I've been smoking weed. One of my good friends made a point about marijuana that stuck with me, she said that it acts as an amplifier- whatever tendencies you already have just become more strongly expressed when you're high on it. So if you're already inclined to be lazy, weed will amplify that tendency. It also goes for politics. If you lean right, thinking about right wing ideas while high will cause you to expand and explore that mental space.
