Post-Brexit we have one opportunity to actually excel, and that involves getting closer to the USA. Trump's election makes that an immensely profitable enterprise.
With the EU being taxed to hell by the USA, all we need to do is show the USA we are willing to do the same. American opinions on the UK, particularly Trump's base, will LOVE for us to be part of the same economic sphere. It will help to revitalise Northern industries, reduce immigration, increase military cohesion, increase trade, decrease dependence on the Middle East - everything that could go right for the UK depends on the relationship with America.
The EU depends on a zero-sum game. It's why we spent 200 years avoiding the continent. There is not enough to go around; everything that Germany has, must be taken from someone. Usually France, and vice versa. We are not part of that. America is not. Australia is not.
But these vile bastards would rather the standard Englishman suffer because they naïvely think that the continent has brought us anything but misery for the last 200 years. Hell, 30 years ago, they increased steel and coal production to destroy our own steel mills and collieries - the entire reason half the country voted Brexit is completely amiss and blamed on Thatcher.
They would rather side with those who betrayed us half a dozen times in the last 200 years than with our own cousins abroad.
