Thailand cave rescue: former navy diver dies during operation – live

>Samarn Kunan, a former Thai navy Seal, has died while placing air tanks around the Tham Luang caves in northern Thailand where boys are trapped

At what point does it become better to just leave them there?

F

why don't they just open the cave lol

It's kids. You can't just leave them. There's no reasonable ethical balance for abandoning them (if 100 people would die to save them, yes, leave them, but that's not realistic).

These are VOLUNTEERS doing this, meme flaggot, so they value the well being of these children over their own lives.

I thought seals could swim pretty well

These were asian seals.

F. god bless.

Ya they are volunteers. However scared he might've been and however much he wanted to live he'd rather the kids live even if it meant he had to pay the ultimate price. Respect on his part.

F

This whole thing is quite interesting. US Navy and Nips are sending all their help. I hope we can work together to save these kids. They are good lads and we need to save them.

Can I get a basic gestalt on this cave clusterfuck? What the fuck happened?

REST IN PEACE

Thai soccer kids went to explore some cave together after a game. While in there it started a rain a ton and they got stuck. Caverns got flooded and its still raining. They sent divers in to bring them food and supplies. Trying to figure out how to get them out. They are pumping water out but its raining too much and water levels aren't receding. US Navy and other nations have sent in their best divers to help.

WTF happened to the good old days when kids just fell down a fucking well? You goddamned youngsters have to make everything so fucking complicated these days.

>why not just do something impossible, lol

Why don’t they just swim some diving gear down to the kids and escort them to the surface one at a time?

Mining is impossible?

How the fuck did the kids end up down there?

This. It’s the way things are supposed to be. You sacrifice your own present to preserve the future.

I was wondering this myself, some O2 tanks and whatnot. I'm guessing there are crazy currents in some areas though.

IIRC they said the dive would be extremely challenging for non divers.

They tried opening the cave but they realized it would of been easier to move a mountain instead.

Underwater currents were incredibly strong to the point where seasoned vets were basically rock climbing underwater to get there.

If a trained Navy Seal died while diving in flooded cave rainwater what makes you think a bunch of kids who have never gone through diving training would know how to avoid dying?

From what i'm gathering the dumbass kids went into a cave that was marked off because they knew it was gonna flood, and then it flooded, and now it's a national tragedy for Thailand because some kids were too dumb to pay attention to DANGAR signs.

Kids went into a very long, winding, deep cave that goes downward. It started to rain, lots of little openings everywhere to surface, water comes pouring in, you run away from water deeper into cave. No way of getting out without swimming for a mile underwater in extremely tight openings.

they got "trapped"

at no point.

Hold onto a rope and get pulled up? I understand there's a chance to get stuck on rocks and die but it's better than waiting for the inevitable.

I think I would want to learn real fucking quick in that scenario.

For those of you that don't dive it is dangerous. No visibility, no fresh air to pop up to much of the way, very cold water, and areas of only man sized holes to push through... a preteen will suck air like a mutherfucker, freak out, lose his regulator and drown.

Taking those kids out by scuba kills all of them.

F
but seriously, blast the skinny parts and get a 3000m corrugated drain pipe and fish it from the entrance to the kids, pump it out and have em crawl through.

Oh shit, F

F

That's up to the people who are willing to risk themselves.
Maybe let them know how cool and hardcore you are and you can change their minds.

What are the options?

What? You didn't wander 4 kilometres underground during a rainstorm when you where a child?

Give them some food, lube and a few deck of cards and wait for them water to lower again.
What are they retarded?

Heavy rains came in and flooded the path they took.

>At what point does it become better to just leave them there?

At no point you sick bastard.

Why don’t they just run a 2 mile hose to the area the boys are and pump in air? That would push the water out and keep them supplied with oxygen.

Supposedly none of the kids even knows how to SWIM much less use professional diving gear. Plus the caves are too narrow to escort them one by one and also super murky waters and currents and it’s just a total clusterfuck.

I believe of one the potential plans is to actually train them to swim and use the gear so they can get out.

Cave diving's no joke
Makes sense diving gets a tonne more dangerous when you lose the option of 'nigga just swim up'

No wonder trump is kicking immigrants out of the us military. They aren’t sending their best

Did they do this by themselves? If so how did an entire soccer team wander off without an adult noticing and telling them to get back there and stop being retarded?

HAHA WHAT THE FUCK
How do you wind up in such a situation?

>Experienced diver just died on the return trip
>Hurrr, why don't they just make the boys dive to get them out.

The rescue divers are staging 4 months of food and water, enough to get them through the Monsoon season. Then drain the cave and walk them out.

Should have let our guys do it. They are the best and literally trained every single rescue team from all over the world.
Stop being ashamed of calling wypipo for help.

cave diving is really dangerous and it's sad now those kids need the death of this man weighing on em too

Better than most of our fat recruits. Immigrant who wants to join loves the country more than 99% of the idiots we have here.

Nah, their 25yr old coach escorted them to the cave as a field trip. He's stuck too. I can't wait to see what kind of shit this dude catches once they get them out, its going to be funny.

I'm aware of that. What to you propose instead? Keep giving them food for months until the water recedes? Or go for the risky move and see if we can save half of them?

Too much rain could take 6 months.

Eventually they will throw so many men at them trying to save them that they will drown in the volunteer's blood.

Do you have any solutions? Or are your jibes your way of covering up your own insecurities? If you accuse us of cowardice you hope that no one looks at yours.

this cave rescue is a big illusion

I think this demonstrates that for all their ladyboy perversions, the Thai are not chinks. The Chinese would have just left them to drown.

Thailand is a beautiful country with beautiful people, racism aside. I hope they pull through this.

F

Poor guys can't even swim

Non ironic F.

Honestly rains gotta stop eventually I understand there is a sense of urgency but if they're safe and unharmed why rush things? Unless there is a danger of the cave there in flooding too I guess

why dont thye just stock them with food for a week until they can get some water drainage or something?

Does the water not drain eventually? if not, then how the fuck did they get there

How do they get air? If they are trapped in a pocket they're dead.

In two to four years time this is going to make one hell of a movie

A+ Marketing going on right now.

Who do you think will direct it?
Ron Howard I bet

Attached: Datbedsoftness.jpg (2820x2123, 669K)

They r pumping air in for them to breath

>basically rock climbing underwater to get there
That sounds like an absolute nightmare

Attached: 1498700594260.jpg (679x657, 89K)

A trained elite diver just died while getting there...

probably danger of running out of breathable oxygen

if they are in a cave with a path into the water the air will not refresh and they will die of co2 poisoning

They might have to. But cave diving in INSANELY dangerous and the kids dont even know how to swim.

This is, tho, the most likely outcome. Swim them out.

thats honestly not at bad idea, kind of excessive and costly, but would be safer, but where are you going to get 2 miles of hose? just link up 100 150ft garden hoses?

a trained diver died
that should tell you enough how dangerous this dive would be

Faggot. You should be left in the desert with other faggots to just die.

It wont drain for 5-6 months when the rain season ends.

Flash flood forced them deeper into the cave
Air is running out
Drilling hole from above is out
Swimming is out
Honestly they have a great chance of dying still.

Underwater caving is probably the most dangerous thing a human can do on this planet.

Thing is it's not inevitable. Eventually the rains will stop. 50% of the year you can walk out completely dry. But its monsoon season.

This. Time to call fucking Jean Yves Cousteau and Jean Claude Van Damme.

I honestly don't understand why a cave system like that is just open to the public and how a group of people can literally wander KILOMETERS into it and get trapped so easily. You would think they would have emergency lighting and shit running throughout the cave, or emergency stations placed throughout so that they could contact help.

These kids are literally going to be trapped in there for months if they can't swim out too, they are pretty much doomed. Imagine being trapped in a cave for months.

Just use a pump

Attached: 1383F842-4181-41C6-BFD5-EE8AAC5B5CD2.jpg (384x384, 31K)

sooo is the cave going to completely flood and drown them all then? better fucking do something quick

It's Thailand's rain season; water is still flooding the cave despite them pumping water out. There is also supposed to be a heavy downpour Saturday, and if that happens, they said they have no choice but to dive the kids out, since the cave will flood.

They have food, blankets, and they are searching for other access into the tunnel from above.

Because monsoon season is just starting. If they can’t get them out in the next few days they will have to wait until October.

Thailand is a shithole and filled with disgusting brit and aussie sex tourists. A full semester in that country and every white expat I met was a sick fuck.

What the fuck. Dude belongs in jail, what an irresponsible shitstain. Those kids couldn't have fully understood the risk, but he should have.

>living in a cave for 4 months

Attached: 1469598841905.jpg (403x195, 21K)

The cave they are in may eventually flood itself if it keeps raining.

In that case, they'll never make it. None of the boys even knows how to swim.

What is going on here? Are they just taking a bubble bath?

Thanks, yeah forgot about air flow.

human trafficking

>tfw you'll never have a comfy neet den in a secret bat cave

>Bring elite Israeli soldiers
>Throw a few shekels down the cave
>FastestRescueEver.jpg
>mfw they brought the shekels back and left the kids there

Shitty situation all around. Those kids in the cave are gonna die. There is no feasible way to get them all out. It takes professional divers and SEALS 3-5 hours just to get to them and bring them O2, food, and water. Sadly, they are fucked unless a massive drought comes through and the water table drastically recedes. Which, in that part of Thailand....is a one in a million chance. God speed kiddos.

How the fuck did these retarded slants make it 2.5 miles into a cave in the first place? No one protested crawling in a tunnel after the first mile?

fire suppression system went off, it's foam that smothers fires and puts them out while being less damaging to the equipment or risky to mix with possible spilled/burning fuel than water

This cave system (like most, especially in much of asia) is not remotely airtight, that's likely part of how they ran into problems so quickly.
There are likely many shafts and holes that bring in fresh air/rainwater.

who else thinks he took those kids in there to fuck them and make them fuck eachother?

Oxygen tanks are placed all along the cave both to help the divers and hopefully get the kids out. It is almost 2.5 miles of cave to get through. It seems that air is not a problem...yet.

How these kids enter there in the first place if the path is so narrow?

if they stay in the cave for months they will go inane. hopefully we get live updates on the slow loss of sanity

How the fuck did they get caught in an underwater cave that's near impossible for even military trained divers to get into?
