Why are only white people fearless to the point of being reckless?
Why are they so extreme?

I would ask them to just throw a fucking grenade in there with me.
The thought of being trapped like that, id rather be drowned.
>The thought of being trapped like that, id rather be drowned.
he did
he eventually died suffocated for being upside down and they had to left him there as a corpse.
he's there forever.
What I mean is I would rather tie a brick to my leg and hop in a lake than be trapped like that for 24 hours
??????
What a retard.
Jesus Christ how horrifying
drowining is a pretty awful death
I'd have just gone ahead and broke his legs to get him out. Worth a shot if he's going to die either way.
He's still in there, they left his body and sealed the cave shut.
Bravery, duty and curiosity. I work in crawl spaces and at great heights all the time.
why didn't they just break his legs? I know they didn't want to because "it might kill him" but so what? He died anyway, it was worth a shot imo
there are certainly worse ways
example? im only considering natural things, obviously being tortured to death is worse
Well, if they failed after breaking the legs, he would have died both alone in the dark and in horrible pain.
hm. you're right but surely he was in pain already? they could've just pumped him full of some morphine to put him to sleep if they fucked up.
example?
See OP
what the fuck is the point anyway?
>ooh lemme crawl into a tiny dark hole
like rock climbing, it's good exercise and you're outside with great view. maybe you can chill on top of the rock afterwards. when you spleunk in a narrow cave what do you see? dark rock walls and nothing else. what the fuck
I think they're vore fetishists.
Being stuck upside down on a tunnel like the way the did die ???
How about being trapped upside down in a (you) shaped hole in a cave, for starters
Fuck that shit
Was this even recklessness? He would be alive today without incident if he didn't go head first into a tiny vertical squeeze. Caving itself is safe if you aren't dumb as fuck.
They had to do that shit in Vietnam, they went in head first with their 1911 though because gooks were hiding underground.
They were called tunnel rats
Well, their mechanical system was working until one of the pins in the rock face gave out.
He fell right back into the exact spot he was in, and at that point he was exhausted, battered, and the shock alone may have killed him out right.
Also if you have broken bones, in particular legs, and then move around you're almost certainly going to cause an embolism
It's thrill seeking and a challenge. I don't see how you can be okay with rock climbing, which for real climbs involves climb at night, but not understand spelunking?
Diagram made it look as if he basically took a "wrong turn" into an uncharted part rather than into the nearby charged part
WHY.
I get panic attacks being stuck in a trunk of a car and this asshole just gets into a tiny rock hole. He even had to adjust his breathing to fit.
As far as I understand, there is some fame to be gained from finding the new tunnels or routes, and going headfirst is usually the only way as turning around in the narrow tunnels is pretty much impossible.
According to the /v/ thread where all this was just posted and italy-kun is now reposting it, that's just a small entrance to a much larger (off camera / out of frame) chamber or cave opening
The guy that died had a little kid at home too. Not only did his dumbass genes pass on but he left a kid without a dad.
Breaking his legs would have put him into shock which means he couldn't control his breathing to breath out when passing the squeezes as they pulled him. The riging system was also tied around his boots. If they broke his legs they couldn't pull him out.
>which for real climbs involves climb at night, but not understand spelunking?
huh?
It just seems to me that rock climbing is a good way to get exercise, stretch your muscles, see nice scenery and challenge yourself. Squeezing into a dark, narrow passage that has no pretty things to behold is just weird to me.
finally some good fucking food. an actual explanation that makes sense to my brainlet self.
SERIOUSLY WHYYYYYYY
Russians are known for this insanity
I've read a book chapter about this story. He intentionally went into the tiny squeeze head first thinking it was probably part of a longer tunnel system. As soon as he saw that vertical shaft he should have went back. He could have went in feet first and he would have got back out without any incident ever happening. A golden rule of caving is to never go into an unknown squeeze head first.
Why is a real climb done at night? What does that even mean? A real climb? Almost nobody climbs at night unless you are climbing a building. Also there is a huge difference between climbing and caving. There is almost no thrill seeking with experienced climbers, its about being in nature and ascending the mountain to test yourself. If someone tells you they are looking for a thrill you do not want to climb with them in the mountains. They will get you killed.
Not if they injected morphine into his bone
