Reason why people are alcoholics can be only either of these two:

1) you have genetic fix in your brains that hooks you up after just one shot, or, you have simply trained your brains for alcohol.

2) you are escaping hard circumstances

If 1) it is a tedious problem, because your brains will demand more alcohol -exponentially- by the day if you quit. It doesn't ease up. You should look for Sinclair method. It's a pill that blocks the receptors in your brains that releases dopamine after a shot of booze. You need to take the pill and drink alcohol at the same time and train your brains away from the addiction. It works.

If 2) you need to slice your issues to smaller components. Throw away all that is too big to handle, focus on immediate and smaller issues. Get small successes. Get addicted to succeeding. Most importantly, turn your ship against the issues, not away from the issues. It's the only way. It feels good when you succeed. Don't expect people around you to start praising you. You do this alone.
