Because importing people that don't pay taxes and it a net drain for the economy is working SO well for America 4. Or you know, wait a few years for people to finish automating it 5. Or native Japs have more room to live. With a surplus of space and a lower population rural housing prices are dirt fucking cheap. Look at property prices in California, the most populous state in the US. A shitty rotting shack on the outskirts in town costs tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars.
